the internal mic of the d90 is way too sketchy, any recommandations regarding a decent microphone?

Azden SMX-10 is small, light, cheap, stereo, sounds ok. But I think the D90 has AGC on audio which means it'll probably still sound pretty bad.

QFT.

but if you need an on-camera mic for stuff, this little dude isn't too bad. I have a friend who has one and the audio it picks up is pretty good. You still have to be very careful of operator noise because it does pick up some behind.

Just go with the Rode video mic. Its the best quality you will get with a camera. I would sell the D90 as fast as I could and get a T2i or a 7D if I were you.
