First of all, welcome to the new version of be-mag.com! this has been several years in the making, and we listened to your feedback and your wishes. currently we have the first major rehaul online, but we wont stop here, from now on we will release new features on a regular basis. We are dedicated to keep on expanding the website with features you wished for and with features which make sense for the rollerblading community. Currently the big step is the graphic rehaul of the startpage and also a relaunch of the way we work on the content and what content is being published. We are now going to update on a regular basis, so keep on checking back constantly. also there will be a lot of community features added.

during the process of the relaunch, we also had to relaunch the be-mag msgboard, since the user authentifcation (log in, etc..) is based on this message board. we tested this extensively and all of this worked in the test cases, but murphys law struck several times. first of all we were on the way to the winterclash when our programmer pulled the plug on the website after testing everything, but with a community this big, so many posts, etc.. problems occur. and these were the problems with the login, the weird roles and that several wrong posts were displayed. we were now working full time on getting this kinks ironed out, rest assured. and we have now fixed most of the issues, and are continuing with everything we find, while we are here at the winterclash and live updating from here. please post your feedback and any thoughts below. and we will make an extensive update with more explanations and features after the winterclash event and will also adress your issues.

personally i think all the shit under the quick reply is somewhat pointless. the users browsing the thread is OK, but the bookmarks and tags are juts annoying. when i scroll to the bottom of the page it should just be the quick reply.

I check this site almost everyday and did not expect to see this. The new layout is super sick!! Mad ups to the people at Be-Mag for taking the time to re-launch everything, it's a new year and the timing is perfect. The way rollerblading media is presented is so important for out sport and this site is a continuing example of where things need to go. Word!

-Put the Video Archive Board under the History section with the HoF Board
-Is there anyway to disable the bar above each post with the date/time and post#? The old format seemed to flow better and was a bit easier to read.
-Maybe a smaller version of the banner on the top of each page so you're not losing as much space

Quote trains are the same as blank posts or posting just a pic: no new information is entered. This particular setting of the board clearly states that even if you set the value to 0, which I have, the minimum number of characters is still 1.

I know that alot of boards I have visited in the past had settings where you could customize colors for your background/threads and such, I would love to see that on here but I could also live without it. The one major improvement would be to bring back our old emotes, most boards/social networking sites/chat applications have shitty emotes but the old be-board actually had good ones.

I wish there was a button to return me directly to general gossip (or whatever forum you are in) at the bottom of the page. I don't like having to scroll back to the top to get back to the main forum.

I think the picture of the skater on the banner is pretty bland. Very 90's, doesn't rep the swag of modern blading. There could be a cooler picture (or none.)

thanks for all the feedback so far!
as you can see we changed already quite some things on the msgboard and we now also are working on the main page, functionalities and the look of the layout. so next week more changes will be rolled out on the main page, and we are also going ahead withe more plans we had, so keep on posting your ideas and feedback here, we are happy about any input we can get!

New search fucking blows.

1 - I'm always getting logged out (without realizing it), then I go to search for something and it makes me do one of those annoying god damn picture puzzle things... The worst!

2- So when I can actually get the search page to work, if you search for a user's posts, it only finds posts that the user STARTED, and not ones that they only replied to. For instance, I searched my username, and the only posts that came up are the ones I started months ago, and none of the recent posts that I've been replying to. This is how I did approximately 90% of my Be-Magging, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who doesn't like sifting through pages and pages to find the threads they found relevant.

3- Even if I happen to be searching for a post I started (the one way this current username search function actually works) it seems to arbitrarily place the search results. For example, I just searched my name, checked exact match, and again, the only posts that came up were the ones I started... But I just started one yesterday, and it's not at the top! Some random post I started in 09 is at the top... The one I started the other day? Second last of all the results. SECOND last... Which makes even less sense than if it was dead last. If it was dead last you might be able to conclude that it throws your new posts at the end of the results... but it doesn't even seem to do that. I haven't looked into it too much, but there appears to be no rhyme or reason to how it organizes the results.

4 - (This just affects me, really) But I used to search for "Roc", to see if any relevant posts about Rochester/Roc City Skate would come up, and it used to work fine. Now it says I need to refine my search. Annoying.

5 - OranGe theme for life. And if you disagree I will cut you. Doesn't have anything to do with the search functionality, but seriously... Bring it back.

6 - When you quote someone who quoted someone, it seems to only quote the last post. I think this was mentioned by people wanting to "quote train". I could give two shits about quote trains, since they pretty much ruin threads (unless the thread is absolute shit, in which they ruin them in a good way), but it's nice to be able to quote a series of responses, and respond to that. I see the Multi-Quote check box, but it doesn't appear to do anything. I could be doing it wrong, though.

7 - Shock smiley needs to be a requirement on any and all blade boards as long as Haffey is still blading.

8 - As mentioned, a link back to General Gossip at the bottom of the page (not in a drop down), would be nice. Yeah I know that's nitpicking hard... But hey, you asked for feedback.

9 - Quark, how are you guys going to make a post "asking for feedback", then act like a shit head towards someone for making you a suggestion? Okay, that has nothing to with improving the new board... But you're still an idiot.

this was probably covered but i wish there was an easier way to get back to "general gossip" from a thread. from what i can tell you can either do the pull down menu or scroll to the top of the page and hit general gossip. there should be a single button at the bottom of the page that takes you back.

I bet it's already been mentioned, but can something be done about the apparently random need for mod approval of posts? I've noticed it happens to me only when I include a link (always to well-known, trusted sites). I understand blocking links to random sites, but you should have a whitelist to prevent legitimate link-containing posts from getting flagged. Even better (if the functionality is available), have a whitelists for trusted users who are known not to post spam links (which is the majority of be-mag) so they never have to wait for mod approval. There's nothing more annoying than spending time composing a relevant post only for it to require mod approval and only appearing when what was written is no longer relevant.
