Not claiming to be an amazing musician or anything of the sort. currently just doing this to gain experience with mixing/recording. The entire process. I can play all live but with a looper and beat pad so its kinda cheating, but whatever.
let me know what you think and what I should work on. Resources and books are appreciated recommendations. And
lastly if you think I'm doing something right, elaborate on that so I can work in that area a swell.
thanks guize, and that is all.

It's kinda cool but I'm not digging the double voice tracking. And there's nothing wrong with a beat pad.

Not bad my friend.
Has an early screamo sound to it ala La Quiete, Amanda Woodward etc.
It was a little harsh, but I am a fan of the genre.

Huge fan of early Cursive, Modest Mouse, Guided by Voices and a lot of obscure post punk stuff. I also like slobbering all over the mic. :3
Josh, I got equipment. I got mad crazy instruments to play with. let me know when you wanna jam.

I was a fan of the first one until the vocals kicked in.
And if you're doing it for the recording/mixing experience, first thing you want to work on is noise reduction. With that guitar hum bringing your noise floor that high, you have almost nowhere left to go from there.
i would like the vocals a bit louder, its not really the voice i can't understand-but the music playing too much over it. I would like the understand it.
I definitely see the MM and Cursive influences. I liked it a lot

I listened the 2 songs.
I really dig everything musically (it's pretty nice, you have a sense for it)
but the vocals could be so much better, not feeling em, the mix is pretty whack when the vocals come.
and something i've noticed too is
that the whole thing seems to be lacking a bit of low end (i am on headphones atm so not rly sure)
but yeah u need to keep it up , i'm sure it will be more bad ass as you practice more and more.
Weird turn of events tonight. I some how started a band by accident. Good news thats I'm actually getting these things pointed out by a friend. We wrote a song tonight, and not bragging. I really think it sounds good. But I gotta see what I can do wit h the trrack. Upload tommorrow when I'm sober.
Thanks guys. I really REALLY appreciate the advice and I will try my best to apply it.
again thank you be-mag! its nice to know that I might be able to get good at this.
Wow I actually really enjoyed that.
My experience from being in a band, and having friends in bands is, be very clear on your expectations with your band members. And then enforce all decisions made.
For instance if you decide you're going to practice every thursday night, then follow through and hold other band members accountable to being there.
Also if you want your band to be more than just a hobby make sure that your fellow band members share that goal.
Otherwise it will be an uphill battle and start to not be fun anymore.

I'm not sure where I am at this point about that. More interested in just rocking. Keep ya'll posted. I'll work on the noise and vocal volume. Lyrics are all more or less about Drug abuse, dead people and aliens (lolz)
ps. If you like the songs let me know and I'll make a mediafire file once we are finished.
that's pretty good actually...did you compress the vocals too or was it just a lo-fi recording? I'd say make the vocals a little crisper...
lo-fi, I'm really working with some prehistoric gear though so that might be part of what you're hearing haha.

I am by no means a music critic but one thing did stand out to me. I mean don't get me wrong it sounds great, but it seems like it is just missing one thing.
