Do GL-2s like cold weather?

I know they're not so good with super hot humid conditions... if I'm careful with it can I bring it on a ski trip?

I mean, no camera really likes harsh conditions. As long as you are careful about a couple things it should be fine.

1. Whenever you bring it from outside in the cold, to inside in the warmth, put the camera in a large ziploc bag. (yes, they make them that big. look for laundry-sized ones). Make sure the bag is the same outdoor temp when you put the camera in it. What this does is it allows condensation to form on the outside of the bag, and not the inside of your camera and recording heads. Condensation is what fucks up most cameras. That and getting slammed by skates/skis/snowboards.

2. Don't drop it. Snow is made of water, which when melts, is not a friend to electronics. (if you can get your hands on a rain cover or something before the trip that will make everything much, much safer from spray and falling snow)

3. Bring a few good lens cloths. You'll likely fog up your lens or get it sprayed at some point. Go to a photo shop or something around town and pick up a couple microfiber lens cloths. Also some 91% isopropyl rubbing alcohol may be worth picking up from CVS. The stuff cleans lenses beautifully and it's real cheap. Just make sure it's isopropyl alcohol. I'd get one of those small spray bottles to put it in, just so you're not lugging around a big-ass bottle of the stuff.

So as long as you are careful you shouldn't have a problem. The GL2 is a well built camera, so it should be able to handle just about whatever situation you put it in.

i've shown mine to quite harsh -1 to -3 degrees celcius, and i have to say i thought i nearly lost my baby

its mellow. make sure to have a decent camera bag...preferably a camera backpack....try not to drop the thing and when you go inside keep the camera in the bag and crack the zipper open and let it adjust to the temp slowly....condensation is really the only issue and its pretty hard to fuck up a camera unless its gets covered in snow and you just bring it right inside and let it get soaking wet.
