I wouldn't give you shit. I just see this as an evolution to message boards. If anyone remembers much much older boards there weren't even recorded post counts or anything like that. It would just be a fun metric to have(like post counts), and make the board more interactive/social.

Its not even like the board will have to be overhauled to implement it. You click a fucking button, and that shit is turned on. All the admins would have to do is configure values that judge the scores behind the scenes. All i'm saying is give it a trial run for a week. If everyone is butt sore about it, or it causes the board problems then get rid of it.

Doesn't seem like it would hurt to try something new. Upgrading the board didn't seem to add anything worthwhile besides video embedding, and I think everyone was pretty happy with that shit. This could be better.

Those are how the metrics work. They are organized the same as those things that were around for awhile that gave you a title based on your post count.

Except these metrics are based on quality (as voted by the users), not quantity.

Also, I think there is weight metrics that can be edited, but I am not sure of this. By this I mean you can change how much an individual users votes counts on another user. So someone who has earned a very high reputation will have greater weighted effect to their vote than someone who has a poor reputation.

Although I am not completely sure of that part. I faintly remember reading it somewhere when I originally made this post.

As far as what the context is in what votes will be based on, I can't provide any outline. If someone likes your edit then maybe they will click to give you a higher rep for posting it. Maybe someone will post that they didn't like the hat you wore in the edit so they lowered your rep. Maybe everyone else will see that as a stupid reason to lower someones rep so they will murder that users reputation for being a dick about something so irrelevant. Seriously, who would bitch about peoples productions based on minor aspects to the work? Only assholes. Thats who. I digress.

Point being, its up to you, and everyone else how you want to wield this new found power.



User reputation can be a divisive element of your forum so great care should be taken before a decision is made to enable it.

Be-mag is already pretty divisive. I think that's Be-mags best quality. I honestly wouldn't have brought this issue back up if they didn't add that stupid facebook thing. "Hey look we added this awesome new feature to get you to splash Be-mag all over your facebook so people will see it and come here, and maybe click our new OSM ads we got goin!!!"
