how come some cds that i burn work in some cd players but not in others? does it have to do with having a cd-r or a cd-rw or what is the deal?

closed session. gotta make sure you check that off.

It kind of seals the deal on burning cds. it makes it so you can play it on other computers/cd players

what do you mean check off closed session?

Virtually all cd burning programs (itunes included) have a option to check and uncheck "closed session". Depending on the program, it should be checked for you. But some have it unchecked, so you can continue to add more information onto the disk but it disables you from being able to use that disk on any other medium. Just that computer you burned it from.

Go into properties, or options, and look for a "closed session" option. make sure that shit is checked.

a buddy of mine experienced this problem with itunes a few months ago. Idk if he checked that box or not. but he couldn't get his audio cd's to play on cd players.

still valid despite the age of the ipod.

I edited my post because I made a dumb joke that has already been made three times in this thread. Fuck your CD player, skate with an ipad.

The relevance of this statement is SO far off-base that I can't even tell if it was actually a joke attempt. I mean, seriously, aren't the Arctic Monkeys too ironic to be releasing Compact Discs anyways?

some of the older players will only play CD's burned with slow speeds, like 2x or 4x

Ok my .02 cents on this

I have tried tons of newer type CD-R's in my mate's Jaguar X Type , year 2003 and there was no way in hell it would play them

Then my superior mind told me to buy 'CDR FOR AUDIO' the ones that exclusively say 'for music' and guess what it worked.
He was the happiest muthafuka on earth when it started working lol i put all his fav. songs on it

I am talking about the .cda codec (cd player not mp3)

all cd players can play cdr but not all can play cdrw

not true. see my post

i don't even bother with RWs. am i really that cheap that i need to re use a CD?

we used to have a segment on my radio station played from CD. it was a mix show on saturday night. dude would burn them at twice the speed on the CD label and they were used on close to 20 year old denon broadcast CD players. surprised there was never an issue.
