Why is it that 95% of american rollerbladers act like certain skates are completely unacceptable? mainly I am talking about various usd models. legacy, grycon, realm...
I have never seen a single person ever skating grycons. the reason this bothers me is I had a pair. they where the fire. The shell sizing was horrid. I made the mistake of going with an 11 which is shared with 12 and 13. but other then that wtf? european dudes love them and haffey skated them for a lil while in 2003. they lock on and slide like a dream on any grind. I have never even heard of anybody in person or online owning a pair of legacy's(other than pianoski and demetrious)...... they can't be that bad? I am considering getting a pair of realms and I havent really been able to find much real feedback on them other then al speaking about gary murphy's realms. but seriously why is there such a stigma with american skaters? is it just because they are a great price? same thing with the bladerunner fury. I know some of these skates have lower production quality and cheaper materials, but that doesn't stop people from buying razors lol

I too am interested in realms but never really got a good review. Its such a sick looking skate and its so cheap.

Though I tried legacys twice, both were from different friends, and on both occasions I wanted to throw them in the garbage.

I've skated the first ever Legacy's and i thought they were really really good skates, the Demetrios' are supposed to be a huge improvement on those and i'd really like to try a pair.

Grycon's were alright skates, the VII's (Grycon re-model) are amazing, the full white ones also look really sick.

Realms stock are pretty much utter shit (Unless you get Lomax's), throw in some Sifika SL310's, Classic Throne souls and a nice frame and they are pretty good skates.

If your going to get Realms get the Lomax's and put some Classic Throne souls on.

well by that logic everyone should only skate salomons because they are the only "special" skates ever made lol................ now if I could only find a pair of new size 10 widebodies

thanks for the advice man.... I happen to have a pair of sifika 310's and some nice(trs switch) frames waiting to throw on them.... I was thinking of getting either usd 2 piece or classic throne souls.
anybody know how much modding will have to be done to put these souls on a pair of realms?

classic throne souls on realms sound terrible.

but 2 piece? now that's an idea.

The Realm souls are fine, I see no reason to change them. What the Realm needs is a real cuff, not a huge chunky soulplate slapped on it.

How is the flex? I am pretty much against conventional hardshell skates but love the way the shadow cuff feels.

What skates can you say the realm skates flex like?

When I tried them on, there was no flex. The cuff does not pivot and it did not flex side-to-side much either. It's a slightly rubbery polyurethane material so I'm sure it breaks in a bit. But that breaking in is just the start of the road to the cuff warping/flexing out, which is what Gary's are starting to do.
