View Full Version : Time to buy a new pair of skates..

I was skating some Downtown 4's for the past 2 years and they've finally shit the bed. I've been skating 3 times a week for the past two months and the old DT4s couldn't keep up. I was riding them with one kizer freestyle frame and another stock rb frame. The kizer frame snapped on me while 540ing some gap yesterday, and I'm going to retire them.

My plan is to buy a new pair of skates this evening after work, but what should I buy?

I was always big on buying the most hideous skates on the market, but I don't have 300 dollars to waste on Valos. (also, I'll never purchase a pair of m12's repackaged as a different brand)

I have never skated Razors, Remz, Xsjado, Deshi or NIMHs before. Valos are out of the question. I also only plan on dropping like $225ish max for skates.

Soo... Give me a link to a dope pair of 10 1/2 skates from your favorite skateshop now! I'm too lazy to decide on my own. Hopefully when I get out of work, you guys will have picked my fruitboots.

I thought NIMH'ss were quite stiff when I tried them?
They are solid as hell, but I had a hard time topsiding ledges comfortably.
Are the V2's any better than the V1's?
I really want to skate NIMH's! but it sucks that I can't flex them!

I cut the skin around the cuff and put razor cuffs on. I'd say the flex is better but I never had a problem with the flex anyways.

If they're as stiff as old TRS, I want them! Amall has them for only $140 boot only hmmmm....

My ankles are pretty much dead from skating/high school sports and my NIMHs have the perfect amount of support for me. I've skated pretty much every kind of skate over the past 10 years and none of them felt as solid as my NIMHs feel. I'd say order the NIMHs, toss some frames on them and roll around for an hour or two. As long as you don't do any visible damage to them AMall should let you return them if they're not stiff enough.

i felt that way for the first few weeks, probably because i came from remedyz

between the skates breaking in and just adjusting to them in general, they don't feel stiff at all to me anymore. i don't have any trouble skating ledges, but there's still plenty of support for gaps or just cruising around the park and jumping around like an idiot (which i do most of the time)

i really think they just take more time to get used to than most other blades out there right now

I'm too lazy to get my wallet which is in my bathroom, but tomorrow morning I'll be purchasing

I've never skated Razors, but everyone I used to skate with swore by them. Should be fun.
