View Full Version : Thoughts on Asher Roths Album (download link included)

I was curious about Asher Roth and the undeserved buzz and hype regarding his debut album so I downloaded it this morning. It is exactly what I expected it to be. The production is tight, and the lyricism ranges from average to below average (Asher mentions weed and being high in the majority of his tracks :roll: ). Some of the samples are a bit odd as they come from poprock music, but I guess it works out. I cannot stand how he pronounces his words so thoroughly, and it gets more annoying the longer I listen. However, despite the albums flaws, it's still better than Jim Jones of Dipsets latest album. (see Jims latest single : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZICAZwMW2NQ )

dude fucking sucks and hes playing a show at my work this week. should be horrible but lots of stupid 18 year old girls should be around.

world cafe live at 30th and walnut. wired 96.5 is doing the event so its god awful all around.

last i knew jones wasn't really on dipset...

cam is still the owner and he has a little feud going with jimmy and juelz and said he may consider a reunion in 2010.

it seemed like he had a one-hit-wonder type song geared towards college freshman girls who aren't into music. I don't think he was taking himself seriously as a musician when he made that track, and now i think because of the success he is trying to , (for understandable reasons) but it just doesn't work.

actually he had quite the cult following before I love college came out. I knew a bunch of people who thought he was the shit, personally I got over white indie rappers and shifted my attention toward other genre's so I was never really impressed. He did a bunch of songs over really popular tracks with very campy, pop-ish raps. I can see why high school/college kids would be into him, but I really don't care much for him.

Asher Roth is garbage. His music is rap for frat houses, and it is complete bullshit. His voice sounds like he is trying to imitate Eminem. Copywrite is going to fuck his shit up, he is traveling to one of ashers shows on the 24th of this month and going to walk up on stage and call Asher out.

dipset has great production, jones voice is annoying though.

as for asher, he has a song called "lark on my go-cart".
