The only thing that would get you banned on one of the other forums I go on is posting NSFW material with a Warning, and obviously having it in your sig. They'll just delete your sig if its too big so that's no biggie and oh yeah, posting the logout link is bannable too lol.

i still want to devise a system where reputation actually has consequences. for instance, too much bad reputation gives you a temporary ban.

there are a lot of open-source PHP-based message boards out there. it would be tough to create, but definitely possible
