i'm about to purchase a sony a550 body, why?

because i currently have a minolta maxxum 5 slr with slave, flash and lens.

i know that my slave and flash will mount onto the sony, but will my lens?

I believe so, yes. It's the "A-mount" I believe. Better do some googling to make sure though.

Also, not to be one of those OMGNIKONORCANONONLY guys, but you might want to check how much the flash and lens are worth/what their performance is like. If they're not worth much and/or aren't that great, it might not be worth going with Sony.
