View Full Version : Does any american shop other than A-Mall carry the Kaltik flat frames?

I was about to order my dream setup because I saw the Carbon 2's were finally in stock at A-Mall, but they are out of the M/L Kaltik flat frames in white. Normally I would say "whatever" and get the grey ones instead, but since I'm dropping $500 on a skate setup I want everything to be exactly the way I want. Will the S/M frames look disproportionate in size 9 Carbon 2's? However, I'm concerned that having a shorter frame than I'm used to in addition to a flat setup will make the skates turn way too easily, considering that I've skated antirocker for the past 10 years or so.

JH: If you see this, do you think you'll get more of the frames in stock anytime soon?

I want to say it it wouldn't matter that much since the carbon boot is so much smaller than most other boots but if I were dropping that much on skates I'd make sure before ordering.

Basically I'm useless.

can't find the pic, but I saw a 6-7 nimh shell with size L kaltiks which looked just right, I'd be careful with S frames, they are really short

Maybe it's a sign that I don't need a $500 skate setup. It's either those or a set of these:

240 is pretty short for US9, I haven't heard back from the Kaltik dude about the L wheelbase.

Yeah, that's way too short. I'll wait until JH gets back to me and then decide. I probably won't be able to skate until the spring, so I'm still reluctant to drop all this money on equipment I'm not going to use for a while. The frames being out of stock basically prevented me from buying the setup on impulse and gave me some time to reconsider. I really like the way the Carbon 2's look and I wouldn't want to have to buy a different colorway because I waited too long to get them and the black ones ran out. But I've decided I'm only getting them if I also get the flat frames (and they have to match, of course )

I read somewhere that the large is 258mm. Which is just about perfect for a size US9 foot in most people's opinion.

That would be cool, but 240 mm sounds way short and I doubt it will work. But it's worth a try. Thanks.

Ummm... I might be wrong here, but I don't think AMall actually has Carbon2's in stock yet.

Amall will be the only shop in the US that carries the frames for quite some time.

Jake Eley of Loco said in the description of said frame in his shop that a size large would look perfect on a size 9 UK Deshi Carbon.

LARGE

Both look good IMO, but I suppose it just depends on how much of your front wheel you really want to see. On the smalls you can just barely see the 56mm wheels. The larges you can see both the wheel AND frame over the toes.

Other than that we should have more larges after Christmas, maybe next week if we are real lucky.

The small ones actually look better than the large ones

But I'm still concerned about the shorter wheelbase because I'm used to frames in the 250-260 mm range. Somebody give me a convincing argument to pull the trigger.

Fuck it. Even if the small ones look better I'd rather stick with the wheelbase length I'm used to. I guess I'll wait until the frames are back in stock.
