View Full Version : Nikon AF-S motors' lifetimes?
I have a Nikon 80-200 2.8 af-s and its probably about 8 years old. Currently its worth a little over $1000, but i fear the day when the af-s motor in it will die. Can Nikon replace old af-s motors? Will it cost horrid amounts of money? is this something i should fear?
i am on the fence as whether or not to sell it and buy the af-d version. thanks.

I sold mine for 525 on ebay. Nikon doesn't have parts for a lot of their old lens and camera bodies. I bought a 85 1.8D 3 years ago which is 6 years plus old i sent it to them for repair and then sent it back saying that the parts don't exist any more. So if not now eventually you will run into the same issue. Like I said i sold my 80-200 for 525 on ebay, now i have a 70-200 2.8 vr2.
i have the af-s version though not the d. thats why its more expensive. im worried about the af-s motor failing.
