There has been much said about these already, but here's what I have to add about them. I have been riding RB Point 8's forever so the first thing I noticed was a big difference in the cuff. I have skated my friends Deshi Minton's before and the cuff feels like that to me...kind of low on the ankle and wobbly feeling. If you're already used to Deshi cuffs, I don't think you will find much of a difference except the lacing system. The laces go all the way to the top and are amazing for tightening or loosening your skates. It's crazy...the least little bit of tightening makes a huge difference. I'm still trying to get that exact level of tightness that feels supportive yet doesn't make my feet go numb (i kind of have poor circulation). Basically, these skates feel exactly like my figure skates (yes...I am a girl and I've been aggressive skating for 12 years). They are just like them...tight to your foot and extremely responsive. The liner does not seem like it will ever wear out because it's not a liner...it's like really tough padded material and the skates are very comfortable with no pressure points. So far I have gotten zero blisters from them.
They biggest improvement in my skating for me has been in my jumping ability. When I jump it's pretty much effortless feeling and I have more confidence because even if I'm tired, I know I'm not gonna miss. I was also able to jump much higher than usual. I rode them on street and park.
On street, the wheels on my right skate wore down more than usual on the inside. I guess I need to ride the skates tighter. In park, there are a few transitions that aren't very smooth and I felt it more in these skates. Like...if you don't pump through these transitions, you'll fall and it's a big jolt, but in these skates the carbon doesn't seem to absorb much shock. I don't do gaps anymore because I'm old and have bad knees so i can't tell you about that. I did put in comfy footbeds that are more tailored to my high arches than the ones they came with. However, the ones they came with were pretty comfy.
