Did skate Nimhs, Won't be skating SHIMAS.... Not so much for the politics, more so for the fact that the new company looks like a lame version of the old one, the new skins look awful to me, the logo is a sterile-unevocative piece of shit that is a rip-off of the old ASA logo..... If our industry were massive and Nimh were still around then the new SHIMA skates look pretty much what I would expect a major-sports retailers cheap Nimh knockoffs to look like... Remz rider from now on (HRs if I can get 'em)...

Skater owned is a big con anyway... The three longest serving companies to our activity are (in order of longest involved to most recently) Rollerblade, Roces and Eulogy.... None of whom are skater owned, all of whom get shit from people despite the fact that all of them have stuck with Rolling through thick and thin (unlike Salomon and K2 and other companies that are still generally respected by people, yet left rolling as soon as the $$$ did)

Montre didn't look particularly excited about the new company in his Winterclash interview, Bolino is a great skater but from what I can gather, he seems dumb as hell and doesn't seem like he gives a shit about much other than pussy and where the next joint or beer is coming from.... Don't know much about Chase other than he's one of my fave skaters... The thing is, all three of them have been guaranteed pro places in the new team and pro-skates (in montres case) with the industry in the state that it's in, I don't blame them for hanging on to definates.... Contrary to what a lot of people think, I don't see any guarentees that any of them would get an equally solid position skating for other companies and retain 'pro' or 'pro-skates soon' status....

When Korte was working for the Conference he called Montre's fucking house and tried to steal him from Nimh, I believe they even offered him more than their current pros who had been on the team for years were earning.

there must be some truth as Shima's mom did file suit against Elliot (search case 37-2010-00102396-CU-BC-CTL (http://www.sdcourt.ca.gov/portal/page?_pageid=55,1056871&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL).) However, much of this story does not make sense.
The CEO can not, on his own, decide to change the ownership structure of a corporation to a sole proprietorship and just cut out other owners. A single owner and/or corporate officer acting alone can not legally appropriate corporate property for their own. Also if Jon and Jan are listed in the articles of incorporation as agents of the entity, like all owners in this type of situation should be, they can access any bank accounts held by the corporation. Taking property belonging to Rat Tail, transferring corporate bank accounts to personal accounts and cashing checks for the sale of corporate property in his own name; would all be considered fraud and embezzlement. If Jon and Jan are not complete idiots, they would sue Shima in a hot second had he tried any of this, but no such civil suits have been filed.
While I have no reason to doubt that rollerboots is relaying this story to the best of his knowledge, it can't all be true. There is more we don't know.

This story sucks, a friend of mine had told me a story about this situation a short while ago and I was hoping that this was hear-say but too many similarities have me concluding that this is all too real. It is sad to see things go down like this.

I just want people to know the truth about what Brian did to people that trusted him. The friends, co-worker, skaters that believed in him & respected him. a company that he worked for has now dissolved with bad blood between important leaders in a small community that OP is directly involved in. clearly this affects both his employment, his friendships, his scene, and rollerblading in general. airing it out on a messageboard is important because some people actually care about ethics and integrity, and will chose to not buy a brand when they know that its business practices are shady at best.

I totally believe the whole thing, I can't find reason to doubt it, I mean why else would NIMH die and Shima skate manufacturing appear like it has? theres no other reason really, and why would this chap go to the length of writing out a huge amount of text if I didn't feel personally involved and affected by this, so I do believe it. I never road NIMH as I don't like how they look, but its still sad to see the legacy what was Shima & Elliott (and Jan) with their friendship, and skating and similar tracks in life, suddenly break ways.
I hope Elliott and Jan still stay in the industry as I wouldn't want to lose them two, it would feel like the end of a great era. As for Shima well we shall see what happens.

This rollerboots666 guy just seems like someone who got elliot's autograph once and got to hang out at the shop for a few hours. This guy is not involved with the company and out of the three guys who are, not one of them has come forward with any information. It would be ridiculous to believe anything this guy says simply because the way in which he chose to release this information is completely devoid of class and lacks any form of sensitivity regarding other peoples' business.

Two seperate people that I know who spoke directly to Jon regarding this ordeal recounted pretty much everything rollerboots said as Jons side of the story. So I believe him. I'd love to hear Shimas side though. Whole thing seems to suck,especially considering I love my nimhs and both of those dudes are top five of all time in my book.

Why would shops not carry products after that story. It sucks that happened to Jon and Jan but that's business. 90% of the products you find in a grocery story have that same back story. People get fucked in business, that's just how it goes. People start businesses to make money, not friend's.

come on moya, really? The "in" crowd has always been dominant in our sport. The powers to be booted my ass for not supporting the people we were expected to. Shima is definitely "in" but so are Jon and Jan. Politics will play a major factor in the survival of SSM.

Everyone knows one side of the basic story.. which unfortunately is enough for most to form amazingly strong(/stupid) opinions. I can't think of any shop owner in the industry who isn't down with Shima though. And maybe Jon and Jan aren't really "in" anymore. Jon was one of my heros growing up but more recently Shima has been all over the place skating, filming, managing the team, promoting, traveling, etc, and I haven't seen Jon anywhere besides lurking around WC with Andy Kruse and other rollerblading retirees and riding hipster vintage mopeds with Jan. Maybe they weren't as committed to rollerblading as they once were. Or maybe I'm wrong, but the point is we don't fucking know, so their business shouldn't really concern us. Montre's name is on the blades.. good enough for me.

I dunno about rollerbladers not having conviction. A lot of rollerbladers don't wear skateboard brands because of their own morals even if the quality is a lot better.

Does it really have to be an upgrade? A lot of people like skating nimhs just how they are, and in order to still skate them they're just gonna have to ride the same slate with a different name.

i want but i'm not sure if i want with 5050. i've skated GC exclusively since they came out with their first frame. i've only tried other frames out from here to there for no longer than a couple of days.
the new logo is terrible, the skates don't look that bad for a NIMH
