I know some of you don't care about this shit but I love it...
Me, Benji, Dakota and Benji's cousin Denisse went..
We were unaware snow was still on the ground.

We first went to big falls in forest falls.
The falls fall in 4 tiers and the overall height is like 600-800 feet.

Benji Decided to climb up this, it was steep, he got scraped and bled a few times, idiot, haha.

Nature, fucking awesome. It was hot, but there was still snow.

We had to cross the snow a few times, we ran out of water but no whiskey :)

These paw prints are bigger than they look.

Hiking on up, we got so tired, we only made it up halfway, we are going again next week to visit the top and get a better view and see horned sheep, and trout (we might bring fishing poles).

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5213/5526960306_399f6b3083_z.jpg
some hoof footpronts (not sure I spelled that right)

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5052/5526959734_7c3f8ed43a_z.jpg
More footprints

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5012/5526367255_dd47358f1d_z.jpg
The view halfway up.

We went back to benji's for a BBQ. good day. Apparently there was this person trying to climb up around the waterfall and a rock fell on her and she fell and broke her ribs and some other shit.

All 3 of us are going next week, my friend Ron might go as well. If anyone wants to join on a hike, nature, drinking, etc. Hit me up. There's always room.

Oregon is VERY beautiful!
I had an uncle who lived out there and we went hiking when I was like 12. The air, trees, water smells so much better than it does down here.

These were taken on Christmas Day, we trooped it to these natural hot springs up in the mountains, it was awesome.

In like 2 months, I'm driving down to the top of California and meeting up with my best friends and their ladyfriends and we're driving up 101 to the top Oregon and back down to Portland, gonna rule so hard.

That's sick shadows, did you hike or camp out there?
By the look of your gear I assume day hike?
How long was that hike? I sure hope you brought a little whiskey to drink while you were up there :)

of those pics posted the only pics that are related are the first and last. that adventure was a two day deal. the beaver dam shot was on the way up to the trail head. total trip was around 30 miles id say. its a 14 something thousand footer. that was a trip a while ago. it might even be the 3rd highest in North america not sure. Mt. Elbert.

this is the whole range. we hiked the entire ridge from the farthest point left and then up to the peak then straight down.

Do you guys pack minimalists?

That looks sick! I am going on a 2 day trip later this month hopefully.

That's an internal frame back pack. They are more popular. I prefer external.
This is my pack...

This is everything in it's bag except for what will be on my person. (I take either backpack, depends on day hikes or backpacking for a few days.

I recently got a new sleeping bag, which is warmer than the one shown and only 1/4 the size :)

I just threw away a shovel like the one you got Ozzie, wtf am I supposed to do with it? The norwegian military sent me a fucking packinglist for this training I`m going to tomorrow, and it`s packed with fucking shit I`ll never use. The list is so full of shit I have to leave a lot of the shit I normally use when I`m in the woods. I`m really upset, cos I`ve spent all day packing shit like shovels, gasmasks, several kilos of oldschool tent shit we don`t even use, crazy clothing for extreme winter warfare etc. And now there`s no room for the stuff that comes in handy...

And they`ve also decided how I`m going to set up my vest, and they`ve found out that vital stuff like ear and eye protection goes in my bag and not on my body...fuck this. Normally I`m packing whatever I need...

sorry for super off-topic, needed to get it off my chest

The shovel is to dig for a campfire and place rocks around, also to throw dirt on it when you are done. Also to dig up a hole when you shit and cover it up. I know you could use a smaller shovel for such occasions (I sometimes wont take it and will use a smaller gardening shovel). Not sure if you get a ticket if you don't have one but in the national park website it says you need one.

Yeah, the picture you see is full of shit I own, I wont take EVERYTHING you see there. When I go backpacking I'll take pics of make a video of how I stuff my pack. I might also do it this weekend when I go on a day hike.

Ah so that's what it's for... I guess since we're heavily armed we can shit wherever we want without covering it up. Not until shit hits the fan will we start covering shit up (see what I did there?)

Nah, but srsly I see the point but in this case we won't exactly be camping in a national park.

And I'll watch a video for sure, pretty relevant to my interests (I kinda suck at packing).

Damn, you guys are wayyy serious, haha. I have a Chrome messenger bag that I use mostly for work but when I go hiking I just throw some snacks and drinks in there. I've also never gone a multi-day hike, usually just for a few hours but I'm sure that will change this summer.

I know it's kind of cliche but have any of you guys ever trekked through Badlands National Park in South Dakota? That was one of the raddest things I've ever been too. I spent 2 days there and camped there when I was traveling across country to move to PDX.
