the trick wasn't perfect but like graig said - it's the first real bio 540 ao top porn, just give him time and he will definitely land it better. I can't understand the haters, is it really so hard to enjoy both things - creative skating and park hammers?95% of the skaters are not able to land it, so why can't you just respect something amazing?

People hating on shit is just as annoying everyone claiming that everyone is hating when no one is. Like when Cudot won the BCSD. No one really hated but htere were 15 snobby comments saying "where are the haters now" and "I cannot believe you guys are still hating" before anyone hated.

Rickayyy is exactly right. If broskow did that 270 back pud to AO fish (in charging) and his hand touched the rail, people would LOSE IT. l
of course this clip is from a comp, but he should at least do it again, to try and land it (even though he would still be a cutie pie drunk with his fucking landing MUAHAHAHA.

I would say it doesn't count. His hand was down and holding him up/holding him topside the entire time. There's a big difference between that and a slight/momentary hand touch.
I would also say that I'd like to see Cudot or someone else land it, and then I'd really like to see someone with cool style perfect it.

if i was him i just wouldn't have been happy with that...
if he only did it to win the comp then he leveled up to a hucker.
if he did it to level up rolling then the should have done it again...
He must have tried it before and even if that was the first try ever, he can obviously do the trick, so when everyone ran in, if i was him i would have shoved them outa the way and fucking done it again! "make it perfect"
I'm with al dolega, it didn't count.

But.. everyone from jersey Is fucking awesome. Rickay, Danny dags, Jon Jon, DAFFICK, even alf. If you meet you realize that the dudes are some of the chillest dudes in blading.
Don't let shit talking on a forum effect your judgment of someone until you meet them. Everyone likes blading in different ways and are usually very serious about it.

i dont know how everyone is so shocked by this. dont get me wrong its a cool trick. its amazing that he can do it but calm down its nothing crazy new. people have been trying and landing backflip to soul for sometime now. bolino did the sorta bio five kindgrind. stephane alfano did that disaster cork 720 soul on a disaster rail that was crazier than any of the boxes these others are done on, plus it was either cudot or alfano (maybe even both) already did that sideways flip back royale on coping shit, looked like backflip 180 back royale or somthing like that.

You are a dick, and most of other complaining about this.
For fuck sake can't you all stop bitching about everything related to Cudot and other new kids, he did a fucking bio5 to aotp and you all went "Ah, his hand touched, doesn't go through in my book".
Seriously???
I'm not so surprised his hand touched, I'm more surprised how his whole body didn't crushed onto the box from such an impact and how he actually nailed aotp to the rail after spinning like crazy from that bio.
i just want to point out that it's alot easier to stop the rotation on the 'bio' 5 to kg than it is on cudot's bio 5 to ao top porn. for this reason, it will be incredible if cudot ever lands that trick clean with consistency. i don't really count it that he did it, but i appreciate that he is doing something new. he's doing it right (by doing new tricks that are hard), and i guarantee you that he cleans it up in the next year or two.
to summarize, the fast slide foot makes the difference between cudot landing easily jj's bio 5 kg to doing a new trick that has never been done, bio 5 ao top porn.

No question it's fuckin amazing but this is why I hate contest skating. It has nothing to do with style, it's about standards. There are no standards in contest skating. It's mostly just ppl chucking their bodies and doing sloppy ass tricks. Some1 could do a 900 tru fish and if they touched, I'd expect people to call it out. I guess it's how you came up skating. Here, if you touched, came off in the grass, came off farside, touched the ground when you landed, stepped on/off, rolled, it didn't count...period.
I appreciate the difficulty of the trick but the way he did that just shows me that he could have done it again w/o touching and w/o rolling.

That's not how contests are judged though and its like the hardest to understand concept for all of you guys for some reason. I just dont get why people cant realize that you try to do the HARDEST TRICK POSSIBLE to win a fucking contest. Is it really that hard to grasp? You aren't figure skating my friends.
CAN'T SILENCE THE TRUTH
22.03.2011, 10:15
But who sets the standards for judging? Even if someone told me to judge a certain way, I'd judge however I wanted. For example, Dominic Sagona wouldn't even have to skate, he would win just for being there.
That's why I said I don't like contest skating. Regardless how they're judged it doesn't matter to me, I'll always hold my opinion the same way. If you touch on a trick (regardless of the trick), whether it's in a video pfile or a contest, do it again. We gave Tony Hawk shit for "picking up change" on his 900 (the first 900 ever done on a skateboard mind you) and claimed it didn't count, yet we let our own guys get away with touching AND rolling? Doesn't make sense.
http://i.imgur.com/RuL04.png

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v665/ianm89/Gregtheneck.jpg
Look who is talking?
Judging standards are set by contest organizers, they give you a format and you follow it how you see fit. Me and greg judged pow wow last year with a few others and it was an awesome experience. Ill be judging the 18 and under division at pow wow this year as well.
But who sets the standards for judging? Even if someone told me to judge a certain way, I'd judge however I wanted. For example, Dominic Sagona wouldn't even have to skate, he would win just for being there.
And that's why nobody picks clowns like you to judge.

That's not always how it was. Style used to matter back in the day when comps were more than just the same tricks on the same obstacles over and over again. "The hardest trick possible" is just as subjective as style.. is a sloppy switch 9 harder than doing a perfect grabbed bio 9? A trick's supposed hardness cant be the only judging criteria unless every trick has an assigned point value.. we're not playing Aggressive Inline.

Of course the flip to grind was impressive and had to be done with extreme precision. I mean when you come down to the basics; he flipped off a ramp and landed on that "fucked up little 1 inch rail" (Michael Collins, The Meantime). When you play Tony Hawk's Pro Skater or SKATE or... Aggressive Inline, you tend to get more points for flipping and spinning into grinds. So I award these rollerbladers with 100 skill points, 0 control points, and 0 style points. Control consists of confidence and perfect execution. None of the tricks I saw in that were perfectly executed. No grab spins, no grab flips, and fish out of water spins. They might feel confident, but they sure don't look confident. Watch some of the best park skaters, Brandon Smith and Jeff Stockwell, skate a park and then watch these fools. Where is the flow? Where is the smoothness? I cringed watching that.
I feel like if blading is ever going to get bigger you dudes need to step down from your high horses and realize there is so much more to blading than your narrow opinionated view of it. Im trying to apply this to my own thinking as well.

Well maybe if he can land easily 540 kg he should do that instead of not landing 540 aotp and acting like it counted.
to me it doesn't look like he counted it based on his reaction. if you watch his reactions at bcsd on his 5 ao topporn he was like pumped. he did that and just skated back to the ramp he came from like he was going to try it again.

Im sorry but if blading were to "get big" id want people who looked like they knew what they were doing and doing it perfectly out in front. The public might not understand techinical tricks but any idiot can clearly watch his hand drag the whole way and realize that didnt count. My "narrow opinated view" of style being more important then anything is what will make blading be respected, not a sloppy circus show.
Im sorry but if blading were to "get big" id want people who looked like they knew what they were doing and doing it perfectly out in front. And that is your opinion which is totally cool, I just don't agree with how most of you think. I also never said blading needs to be a sloppy circus show to get respect, I simply said most of you guys need an attitude check as well as myself. You know I <3 you no matter what though ;)

I don't think cudot putting his hand down on a bio 5 ao topporn quite counts as a "sloppy circus show", the real circus show that would cause rollerblading to get disrespected would be the kids running around in vests and cute little outfits and flopping their arms around like rag-dolls while not going big. However, I do agree that cudot did not land that trick.....but he will and it won't be sloppy.

Why does my preference of tricks and my type of skating in general have to be involved with this? I 100% agree that Cudot is light years ahead of me and is way better than me at skating. He will probably beat me in S.K.A.T.E. 50 times in a row on any obstacle.

All 58 seconds of the that video are a sloppy circus show.
As for the way people in blading dress, maybe you should go take a look into any middle/high school, pretty sure that's how most kids are dressing these days. Weather you and I think it's cool or not, those kids think it is and they're the kids who would be our target audience as far as numbers go seeing as I can't think or any one 18+ year old who just started blading.

in all honesty i was expecting people to be doing shit like this on the regular like five years ago. misty flip back royales, zero backflips to ao top porn or ao makio.
when connor o'brien zero backflipped a park bank (or maybe it was a mini set at a park) he did it really close to a down ledge and everyone i watched that with thought it looked like he was gonna flip to a grind on the ledge at first. the more people get comfortable with flips and weird spins the more likely it will be that grinds will be linked in. euro skaters are a lot more acrobatic than american skaters so obviously with the crazy parks and acrobatic styles they are gonna be wrecking flips to grinds at some point.
i guess thats why i'm not that shocked by it though its a crazy trick. i have high expectations for these fuckers, if i can throw my old ass down some craziness then these fuckers better be doing some amazing crazy madness that makes my penis tingle!!!!!

But who sets the standards for judging? Even if someone told me to judge a certain way, I'd judge however I wanted. For example, Dominic Sagona wouldn't even have to skate, he would win just for being there.
Soooo that's why Broskow placed at bittercold....
Don't get me wrong, Broskow is awesome but no way in hell should someone be allowed to place when they skate 1 obstacle the whole time just because of their name.

Charlie wasn't judging Bittercold, and Broskow skated several obstacles, and he didn't place, and if he did, the judges still don't even know how to spell his name.. so I guess the name doesn't seem to be getting him very far.

Yes it has. Comps have rarely been about the core favorites. Think back to ASA/NISS days and who dominated. Marco Hintze, Matt Salerno, Jon Bergeron*, Nicky Adams, Shawn Robertson, etc... Def not core favorites, more of crowd favorites. Hell, even Feinberg wasn't a core favorite until he started dropping street sections. Sure those guys may have had a few followers but the majority back then was into, Latimer, Zamora, Spizer, Julio, Weber, Sagona, Elliot, etc...
Who won the first ASA amatuer finals? and who did he beat?
What does IMYTA have to do with anything really; Shima, Rob G, Shrijn, Petty, Haffey, Hooi, Murda, etc...? What is your point?

blake is completely right. I'm old enough to remember kids hating on feinberg when he won the 97 x games. he just wasn't percieved as a real skater, because he didn't have a legit video profile at that time. shit, he became a legitimate favourite of the core scene only after BFG.

AF was the black sheep of rollerblading, people hated him for his park skating, claimed he could never skate street. no1 fucking liked him, just some young kid chucking at a park. seems like were seeing the same thing here with cudot, maybe not quite the same, but same general theme.

Pretty sure Al's comment was just alluding to the format and judging criteria of comps. Comps used to be about doing runs and using the park and having style. Then IMYTA adopted a best trick comp jam session format that focused on one obstacle.. Haffey with his 540 kindgrind and royale 450 out in ATL and Detroit. Shima's huge wallride in MTL. Murda's 3 soul and 450 royale in NYC. It only took one or two tricks to win an IMYTA.

That makes sense. I thought he was referring to name credibilty alone.
The problem with runs is that it tones down the difficulty level. People keep saying it was better in the "run" days but forgert how boring ASA's were to watch on TV for the most part. I mean you were happy you saw skating on TV but you still were left with an unsatisfied feeling that it could've been better.
I feel the answer is the best of both worlds, which is a controlled jam that encourages mini runs. However it's hard to do on a larger scale. I've been working on this type of format for the last 2 Pow-wow's

i don't think you need to mess with the jam format... just change the judging criteria to include other factors
