It's mostly Saturdays from May until September, but I'll also be editing the photos in Lightroom a few days per week.
I'm so stoked! It's for one of the most successful wedding photographers in Indianapolis. His photos, customer service & website are superb, and the wedding packages he sells are high class with price tags to match.
On Thursday, I had a video interview over Skype that was supposed to last about 20 minutes, but it went for over an hour. Then last night, I had a face-to-face interview at a local Panera that was supposed to last an hour and went for 3 hours.
I'll be using a Canon EOS 5D Mark II, and we'll be hauling about $25,000 in gear to each wedding we cover.
I can't wait to pick this dude's brain and learn from him
Sick, except for the 5D... :?

Hmm. I do like the 51-point AF system in my D300, but I had to deal with the 3-point AF system on my D40 work camera. 9-points on the 5D will still be better than 3.
I was talking about the accuracy of it.
Well done, my man. I despise weddings, I have 2 booked in the summer that will help to keep me in New York for a month, so i just play the benefits off against what's only a couple days work. I never advertise weddings, word of mouth means I get a steady flow; once I turn good profit in the commercial world I'm closing the door on weddings. I never pursued them but if someone shows me cold hard cash I'm not gonna turn them down.
Keep us updated, nigga.

i was a photo asst. for wedding photographers a few times, money wasn't bad, food was sick, and most of the time i was just holding a flash like 12ft in the air. hope it goes well though, take advantage of the clientele and offer some small side jobs to a couple people, just don't let your employer know.

Thanks everyone :D
I guess I have been selling myself short for a while with photography, but the guy I'll be working for is really optimistic about my abilities. He thinks that after the 2nd or 3rd wedding, together with learning from him about photography in general, I'll be able to shoot them on my own. He's considering accepting double bookings and letting me shoot around 3-5 weddings on my own at the end of the peak season.
For someone to put their reputation on the line is very flattering. Of course, I could just not get it and do terribly. We'll see. I'm staying positive about it.
Boy, I sure hope this isn't all a ploy to get me into his basement so he can skin me and wear my skin as a coat or something.

I worked under people who did Weddings when I was 14. It was the most terribly depressing thing I've ever done. I did steal boxes of tapes and a $300 dollar tripod from him though.

I met with the guy that I'll be working with again last night to go over the equipment and his work flow.
Looks like I'll have access to a 5D Mark II, 5D, 40D, Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8 lens, Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 lens, a few others I forgot, several Canon flashes of varying capabilities, a set of Pocket Wizards, two AlienBees B800s, and all kinds of shit I've only ever seen in magazines or catalogs.
I also have the option of using the his Mac to edit photos with, a G5 workhorse with 10 GB of RAM, four 1 TB hard drives, and a 30" Apple Cinema HD display. I don't remember the processor specs, but it's a $5,000 setup minus the display
Bottom line is that I hope to learn a lot while working with this guy, and he's more than happy to teach me along the way.
He even wants to try his hand at action sports photography. He was all excited to bring out the AlienBees and Pocket Wizards. Just gotta find a good place to do it when I get back to being able to skate at the level I expect from myself.
Annnddd, I just got Lightroom 3, and it's much better than the previous versions :D
