Josiah Blee is the first blader from Seattle to ever win this event, and the youngest blader EVER to win this event. Big pimping. I thought he was like 22 because he's been blading for 11 years. But he is 18. How many 18 year olds do you know that have that O.G. status? Competing at ASA n shit.

No WRS was right with making it a 2 star. Rollerblading isn't that cool of a sport.

good shit guys. i know music is subjective, but foo fighters? really? a few sweet maneuvers in there that i missed watching the comp, julian bah's flat 5 was steezed out and jake dotson's fakie 5 to grabbed makio was tight.

Sick edit. If people took more initiative and actually planned the event out in advance, imagine how much better it could have been. Don't get me wrong, it looks like this contest was great, and much better than the Barnburners of the last 4-5 years. I won't forget the second one though, with Aragons topsoul 900 off the curved rail, or Haffeys 720 kindgrind from the third event, or his 720 kindgrind down the box in the forth one

I hear you man. They only planned this event 28 days ahead of time... which was much better than the 2 week warning last year. They finally caved in and gave Jeremy Townsend control to promote the event and looked how good it turned out. THey should give jeremy a 3 month head start this time and it'll be a 5 star event for sure.

Only 3 months? If you look at contests like Bittercold, Hoedown, and Winterclash they are planned and promoted at least 6 months in advance. Barnburner used to be one of the premier skate contests every year and there's no reason why it couldn't be in the future. Definitely use this edit to promote next years contest and get the word out in advance so people can make plans to attend. I've already watched the edit 3x, you guys really did an awesome job

I've had no part in this edit. I was just a fan. ( did help charge the batteries and off load the footage between heats) :cool:
K. We'll do it 6 months in advance. I'd love to see a huge trade show next year. :)

That was SICK! So glad to see the Barn Burner get it's hype back. Last few years were such a bore watching edits when there were only like 12 spectators at the event.
My advice: push it back to at least a couple months after Bittercold. I was too broke from Detroit to buy a ticket to come up this year, tried to get a ride last minute but that didn't work out.

Good times! Planning for next year has already started. People who plan on attending start setting your money aside now! Problems solved. Thank you everyone who helped make this edit happen and helped me throughout the way with everything else. I couldn't have done it alone.

If you guys want a bigger tradeshow, I think you need to make sure people know there is a tradeshow and make it it's own event sort of. At Bittercold, the tradeshow is almost as big of an event as the contest is. It goes for like 2 hours and then it's over. People are hyped on it, there's tons of tables, everyone has deals, and kids are spending money on shit. At Barn Burner, there was only 1 table that was there almost the whole day with overpriced stuff. $30 for a set of wheels? You can buy 3 sets for that price at BCSD tradeshow.
Just something I noticed that may help.

Yeah it's most definitely going to be refined this year. Shoptask was the only people to come through due to the short timing, and they got fucked hard core by the border. They taxed all of their product and they lost like 600 dollars because of it. So they couldn't give out deals. I'm going to contact shoptask and just have them ship the products over to use before they come out again so they wont get screwed next time.
We're going to start working now on doing our best to make this comp a 5-star event next year. THe ball of motivation is rolling good. :)

Oh and like someone else pointed out, one thing that definitely hurts the attendance of bladers and companies at Barn Burner is for sure the date. I hate to keep comparing it to BCSD but it is the biggest event in blading, at least in the US, and I'm sure we all wish Barn Burner would be as big. It sucks but Bittercold beat you guys to to top. Having a similar contest 1 month afterwards doesn't really give companies any incentive to come out and rep their new shit cause they just did it a month ago. And most bladers drop like $300+ to go to Bittercold so it's tough to go and drop another $300+ a month later to go to Barn Burner. You can tell people to start saving now but let's be realistic, no one is going to.
Bittercold Showdown is also is a better location from a geography standpoint which greatly affects attendance. It's easily accessible to drive to from most of the northeast east and midwest which is way cheaper then flying. There is a way bigger area with wayyyyyyyy more individual scene's to attract bladers from unlike the NW. Unfortunately there is nothing you guys can do about this other then give people a real reason to make people want to get there ass to the NW to be at Barn Burner.
I think if Barn Burner really wants to get on BCSD level, it should seriously consider a date change. Move to April or May or even make it a fall event in like September or October?

NO ZINKGRAF CLIPS!!? ......well I guess there'll be another edit now. No disrespect though I did like the edit and it mostly captured the comp well, but I Gotta make sure Kellan's hotness is seen and comprehended, plus I got a few other tricks and alternate angles that weren't in there that warrant a little companion edit.

Isn't SBS no more? Id say have barn burner during that time..... Because then all the travelers could also go enjoy hempfest..... If they're into that. Yes but that was long before Barn Burner fell off. At this point, Bittercold Showdown is the bigger event so anyone on the fence is going to choose Bittercold if they have the choice between the 2. A date change isn't entirely nessacary, I just think it would definitely help with the turnout.
The fall is kind of occupied by The Hoedown and the winter by Bittercold, why not move Barn Burner to like June or something and kick off the summer?

BCSD= Deal with it.
Your event could be 2 years after BCSD, and you're are still going to get the "we just got back from BCSD, flow is tight atm."
Don't depend on our industry to make your event successful. Use them but don't rely on them. Grow local.

I definitely agree with you about the lack of promotion and set up... And yes, there is events all year long but most aren't major ones like Bittercold Showdown, Barn Burner, and The Hoedown. A date change will definitely help you with attendance but if you honestly want the tradeshow to grow, you have no choice but to change the date. Any company is going to choose BCSD tradeshow for obvious reasons and blading isn't big enough for these companies to do 2 tradeshows in a 30 day period. I don't think our industry can handle 2 real trade shows in 1 year (in the US). Try branching out. How about a starbucks booth, or some other biz synonomous w/ Seattle. I'm was trying to do a trade show at this year's pow wow(which I still am) but it will be nothing like BCSD's (I just haven't figured out how yet) Last year, I was all about mimicking BCSD but i've moved on. I think if you want to grow your event bring something different to the table. Like a beach (wants detroit got on the beach, really?) or a venue change (but then it wouldn't be Barn Burner would it).
