Every few years? Try like every other day. Don't look at me as a skater. I enjoy having skated much more than the act of it. I'm more of an entertainer. I make sections. Nothing more. I take pride and reward in constantly changing. My style is to have no style. I can do anything. You want a hip hop section? No sweat, I been down that road already. You see, I'm everything I want to be at any given moment. Style; I have learned is doing what you want and not giving a fuck. With that being said, I hope you all change and continue to grow and experiment with all outlets and facets of life in and outside of skating. I hope you enjoyed my metal phase. (laughing) If you didn't... don't worry thats just one block of the pyramid that will eventually be my finer moments I leave to skating. The section I'm working on now is nothing like what you just saw and I personally wouldn't have it any other way. So stay tuned, for more. I mean how could I possibly give up? As someone who has skated for 12 years, and played close attention to the scene throughout that time I can honestly say that CK section was Dog Shit.

Why are so many talented skaters skating small, stupid practice level shit and selling it to us in videos? And people wonder why Charging got made into a torrent!

Every pro and am, paid now or expecting to be one day, in our industry needs to strap on a fucking pair of balls and represent the sport properly. That section was so poor, and I mean stylistically, editorially, in terms of amplitude and interest. I was zoning out within minutes. There was only a handful of spots over knee high!

That quality of skating in some of those James Beary section sends a clear message to the 'elite' in our industry. It says to the pro's, the team managers, and the company reps: Stop hooking up your lazy, egotistical buddies and start giving props to the young up and comers who deserve the chance to showcase the cutting edge in our sport.

CK, a lot of us have watched you grow and progress from a young age, and I truthfully believe the young you would think the modern you is a fucking asshole.

No disrespect to James, but the reason unsponsored skaters have to 'go hard' in their online edits is they need to compete with pros who are already established as putting out good sections in major videos, skating on tours, endorsing products (not just endorsing - being marketable), competing well, or whatever reason it may be that they are pro in the first place. When you're pro you don't need to break yourself every section, you just maintain. Unsponsored and flow skaters have something to prove. Pros already proved it.

And in response to what George wrote while I was writing that: at least in the edit of James that was posted, he isn't showcasing the cutting edge in our sport. The hammers or big tricks he's doing that you like have already been showcased by people who did it better. Rob Thompson, Aaron Feinberg, and Alex Broskow come to mind. James put out a nice online edit. It doesn't stand up to big hammer sections from the greats. It is not cutting edge, but it's cool to see him out there doing some good skating.

As soon as the industry allows skaters to stop pushing, or breaking, or progressing themselves, we open ourselves up to supporting an industry where pro's no longer have to try at all. They've put out a few good video sections and now they're allowed to coast by, getting fat, putting out shit, making their companies and the sport look bad.

You say am's go hard because they need to compete with the pro's, but pro's should be more competitive amongst one another, and a section is the perfect way to showcase your most jaw dropping skating. Too many pro's aren't pushing the sport, and you can see rollerbladings collective skill set stagnating and not progressing like it once was. Some Pro's dont skate as hard as they could.

well, as someone whose skated for 13 years, i completely disagree with you. the thing that pisses me off the most in this thread is how people keep saying they could do the tricks in that section. k, you could do those tricks, but could you make them look that good? probably not. ck's skating oozes professionalism, in my opinion. his niche in skating is being the guy to do overly stylish little creative shit. and he does it very well. just like haffey has his niche. if you dont like his style, fine, but dont call his shit amateur just because it isnt for you. skating is an art form first, and a way to go out and do crazy shit and hurt yourself second. ive seen enough drop rails.

ck's section made me want nimhs. it did its job. that james beary guy i didnt even care to see what skates he was wearing. yeah, hes good and hes got a smooth style, but so what? ck is a professional at what he does and he sells shit. i will admit that switch soul to wall stall thing was lame and i wanted a few rail tricks. my fav section of his will always be MOD. the song, clothing, tricks were all perfect. this section was definitely lacking a little bit but, to me a ck section is like pizza or sex, it cant be bad. imo.

As someone who has skated for 12 years, and played close attention to the scene throughout that time I can honestly say that CK section was Dog Shit.

Why are so many talented skaters skating small, stupid practice level shit and selling it to us in videos? And people wonder why Charging got made into a torrent!

Every pro and am, paid now or expecting to be one day, in our industry needs to strap on a fucking pair of balls and represent the sport properly. That section was so poor, and I mean stylistically, editorially, in terms of amplitude and interest. I was zoning out within minutes. There was only a handful of spots over knee high!

That quality of skating in some of those James Beary section sends a clear message to the 'elite' in our industry. It says to the pro's, the team managers, and the company reps: Stop hooking up your lazy, egotistical buddies and start giving props to the young up and comers who deserve the chance to showcase the cutting edge in our sport.

CK, a lot of us have watched you grow and progress from a young age, and I truthfully believe the young you would think the modern you is a fucking asshole.

You must have had your face wrapped like a mummy for the last dozen years bro. Nothing else can explain how someone could spend that much time in the scene and be so fucking clueless.
Colin doesn't skate for Nimh. There was no mad hookup. He let them use footage of him in a video. Then let his brother release it online for free. All the while doing what he loves, for no one but himself. Problem???



No disrespect to James, but the reason unsponsored skaters have to 'go hard' in their online edits is they need to compete with pros who are already established as putting out good sections in major videos, skating on tours, endorsing products (not just endorsing - being marketable), competing well, or whatever reason it may be that they are pro in the first place. When you're pro you don't need to break yourself every section, you just maintain. Unsponsored and flow skaters have something to prove. Pros already proved it.

And in response to what George wrote while I was writing that: at least in the edit of James that was posted, he isn't showcasing the cutting edge in our sport. The hammers or big tricks he's doing that you like have already been showcased by people who did it better. Rob Thompson, Aaron Feinberg, and Alex Broskow come to mind. James put out a nice online edit. It doesn't stand up to big hammer sections from the greats. It is not cutting edge, but it's cool to see him out there doing some good skating.

Section was great. Skating was very unique. Ill style, innovative tricks, skating obscure spots in creative ways, tech. I dont understand why anyone could hate on this section. Its something different. Personally, that is the most important quality i look for in skating these days. Some dude earlier was saying how there were only 2 tricks he could not do in the section. Well the thing is, you havent done it. You might be able to go out and mimic how he skates, but he had the ideas about how to skate those spots first. Most of the tricks in that section were not necessarily about the difficulty, but the way he approached them. He skated spots in his own way. That section was not about the recycled tap dancing switchups or 900 spins to grinds. Basically every switch up and every ridiculous spin to grind has been done on every handrail or ledge. That shit gets boring. The new wave of skating is all about actually doing stuff that hasnt been done before. Its all about the mental aspect instead of the physical ability. If someone is watching a video and sees someone doing 540 kind grinds, then that kid will do his best to do 540 kind grinds. But watching this kind of skating makes kids want to take a completely different approach to the sport, opening up new possibilities. I think a section coming out like this is much better for the sport then seeing an edit full of spin to wins. Just my two cents. Well done CK
