This dude Allas has a blog he writes for one and looks down on everyone in Seattle because of it. The very last photo was taken by my brother yet he uploaded it with his name.

I uploaded that photo directly from my brother's card a night after the Barn Burner. I haz the time stamp (as well as the RAW file) to prove it.
To just put more fuel to the fire. I don't pride myself on photography as much as I do with filming, but I still know the basics enough to tell when something shouldn't be so over processed.

I personally do not like the composition, but the coloring is too much here. Tacky shouldn't be a style to shoot for in photography if i'm not mistaken.

Intuition has used many of my photos and put their logos on it. I do not care to be honest (matt mickey is an awesome dude). However if it was print, I would like to get photo credit for it.
If one of my photos get stolen/ used for anything else besides rollerblading, then I would make a deal about it and want compensation. However, I don't shoot much anymore and my photos aint that great.
That's the way I see it anyways.

When I was chasing down leads on photos for Louie Zamora's interview (http://balancerollingmag.com/Balance_rolling_magazine.html#Issue_6), I was referred to Erik Allas as the last known person to take photos of Louie that might be usable.
I talked to him on the phone, and although he was pleasant enough to send me 10 photos of Louie, he still came off like he had a false sense of self importance.
I had to toss 9 of them due to really poor lighting, grain and motion blur, then completely re-work the last one, a back royale shot, to make it usable. I think I spent an hour on it first in Lightroom then 2 more hours in Photoshop so I had more control.
His photos in general leave a lot to be desired, I'm really surprised he makes money with a camera.
Why don't you mail him that he is a huge faggot?

I did. that photo was first released on the Seattle Skaters blog by Andy's permission. It was then released for an official be-mag coverage posted by Monday with about 100+ awesome photos by Andy.
Here's the thing that gets me... that photo could only have been pulled by those two sources. By someone. either source CLEARLY stated who took the photo. Both be-mag and Seattle skaters prides themselves on their photographers and videographers enough to ALWAY give proper credit.
With that said, did you notice that the ONE's "coverage" only had one usable (really dark photo) by Erik? He was at a comp with some of the worlds best skaters taking photos for 4+ hours and only came up with 1 usable photo that any other photographer would have scrapped.... I'm going to take a guess and say that he needed more than 1 photo to upload to make himself look better, and what better way to do that is to steal a photo from someone he always condenses.
Shit is weak. I just wanted you guys to know this shit. Andy is a awesome photographer.

I don't see how it could be anything other than deliberate. He wrote the article meaning he chose and placed the pictures. The only way he could have gotten Andy's photo was from linking to an article with Andy's name all over it, or having downloaded it from an article with Andy's name on it.
I understand why he might have thought it didn't matter (if he wasn't a narcissistic asshole) it was in a crowd who would remember where he was standing or if he took a picture.
...Except for the fact that he obviously doesn't know how to use a flash and the photo wasn't over edited. So it couldn't be his picture at all. It looks too good.

One more thing about this person. He had my friend film his wedding, he was paying the photographer 500 for it, and he promised gavin 500 to film it. It took gavin a month to give him the footage from teh wedding. So Erik said "since you were late on giving me the footage, I'm going to be late on giving you your money". It's been almost a full year now and gavin still hasn't been paid.

I'm going to set the record straight on several things that you pointed out Jonathan. Not sure if you talked to your brother, but I have had several emails with him correcting the situation. I had no idea that the photo was posted on Seattleskaters. Its been a while since I've been on that site. I was in a pinch and late with the Barn Burner article and I couldn't find just a photo of Josiah. I wanted to give his props for winning BB and none of the ones of him that I took turned out. I pulled the snap off of his facebook. I talked to Justin at ONE and the proper credit is going to be given.
As far as my wedding goes. The finished product which I asked him for was never complete. He gave me raw footage that was unusable for any of the several sources in which I asked to have hit post processed. This has been a really sore subject with my family and wife. When you promise to provide a service, you come through. Don't expect to get paid when all you come up with is shit.
Sucks that you feel that way about me or my work. I've always thought that we were cool, and I've always liked you and your brother as a person. I enjoy seeing your edits. You've helped me out on several occasions and I appreciate that.
As far as taking photos of the comp. I had just gotten out of the hospital with food poisoning. I was super weak and tired and didn't put in the effort that I do when photographing events. I showed up late, and left early. I still made an attempt to promote and cover the event.

It's no surprise that I'm a asshole but I rarely speak a negative word on people from Seattle out of respect, even if I do not like them for whatever reason. But this photo deal crossed my line. It's common knowledge when working in media when you take another person's photo, you site the source. You knew damn well that the photo was going to be credited to you. Do not say that it was an accident when you gave the 2 photos (yours and Andy's included) to Justin and tell him "here's my photos". That is a lame cop out and you know it. It's too far to play dumb at this point.

You know damn well this is not the case. He said he grabbed it from Josiah's facebook and didn't care enough to check to who took the photo. This isn't the mistake on ONE's part. ONE isn't at fault here. I will not apologize for this as long as Erik is still back tracking with excuses on the matter. I'll give Erik the benefit of a doubt that he did not know who's photo he was using, but the fact of the matter is that he presented said photo to ONE to have uploaded with his name. It was up for a full day and nothing was said. That means Erik KNEW the photo was credited to him, and still did nothing about it. That isn't looking out for other people's photography. I still stand by this. I will back down and apologize once Erik recognizes his failure, and not it being a "simple mistake".

Fuck!, Erik did that? Tell Gavin to take him to small claims court, its pretty cheap, I think under $100, maybe 40 but I'm not posative onthe price. It would be hard to prove he paid him, considering he doesn't have a cashed check or credit card statement, or a reciept for proof of payment. Gavin should try to write an email asking for the money again and save/print it out too. My Lawyer/law services are $100 dollars an hour by the way, so look for my bill in the mail.

You had Gavin come out to film your wedding. He was your LAST resort. You just wanted him to give you the footage and you'll go out and have the footage edited somewhere else. I know this because you wanted me to have this done first but shit happened and I was out of a camera for a long while. So Gavin did it. I was with gavin right after he filmed the wedding, and he said that you were going to pay him to just give you the footage. He was late on giving you the footage. It took him a month or so to do it. Now you're changing your story and saying that you wanted a "complete" package? Bull fucking shit man. You don't fuck someone over because you foudn out how much it really costs to get a wedding video edited. It's a subject that's sore to your family and you. Fuck that. You PAY people for their services. A camera man came out and spent the day with you filming the events, and took the time to capture and log all the footage. That in itself should be charged around 500. To edit the footage into a useable/veiwable video for family and friends is 1000 minimal. You probably found that one out the hard way didn't you?

ONE isn't the issue. ONE wasn't given any information to think that it wasn't. Justin asked Erik for photos, erik gave justin the photos without explaining to justin where one of the two photos came from. not ONEs fault.

I think I and hopefully everyone else who is a photographer learned from this; Always Watermark all images that we put out into the interwebz. otherwise we leave ourselves open to having our work stolen.

I once found one of my photo's ending up in a Bayliners boat Magazine and couldn't do anything about it because I worked for a sport yacht dealership and technically I was on the clock when I took the photo and sent it in to the PR person at the home office at her request and I was explicit in saying let me know if you use them so I can get credit and maybe paid? well this was my first dealings with things of that nature and she had it published then proceeded to play dumb with me saying " I had so many photos I submitted from other people and I didn't know" well.. there was only 2 photographers... ME and This dumb bitch who couldn't even operate the camera ( she got the job for sucking dick.)
It was obvious that she was playing dumb because she knew she fucked up and technically since being on the clock it is considered work for hire.. event hough I spent the other 16 hours in one day working on the "Seattle boat show" busting my ass off for shit wage.

It only comes from the fact that I asked AJ to tell me ONE crazy story when he got back from Seattle and he said some guy from be-mag who they stayed with got caught by his old lady having some sort of extreme amount of ass porn on his computer and she sort of caused a scene and kicked everyone out of the house. So I'm only trying to place a person with the story...man. You didn't say it wasn't you so I will continue assuming it was.

I really wasn't that interested in the answer to the 1st question. Just razzing you, really. But I have to disagree with you about my 2nd question. It was not stupid. Who did Aj stay with? Hmm... I know Farmer stayed with my friend Gavin for a while. Was it on the On Top tour or the Charging tour? Lets get to the... bottom of this. I'm curious to know who. I never seen Aj and Aj definitely has me mistaken for someone else in that Charging thread I made.
