The problem is lack of aerial awareness. When spinning, a skater should know in their head when it's time to open out and land the spin.....as opposed to stalling the spin 180 too soon and having to force the rest. It looks terrible.

This has nothing to do with laws of style or coolness, this is about watching a video and seeing all the top professional skaters in the video struggling to maintain balance when landing a particular trick. With such importance placed on control and not being a chucker these days, it's ironic.

The one Broskow does in the drain in Drip Drop is a good example, you get to see what I'm describing in double angle slo-mo. Compare that with the one Dustin does in the same drain in Coup d'Etat.

The 9 Shima did at SDSF was to fakie, so what I'm saying doesn't apply.

Seriously, compare it to the one DL does in the CDT intro. Leads with head & shoulders, spins smooth, and you can see he knows where he is in the air & when to open out. The ones I see pro skaters do today have all these spastic contortions in the middle, and most of the time their head is turned against the spin.

But Broskows is faster and harder to do and off an awkward kicker over a water gap. He's done a million perfect fakie 5's and 7's.

Plus, on the DL fakie 5, he goes all two armed just before the landing. Its awesome though.

Just watched DL's again to refresh my memory. DL's was sick, but he did have the monkey arms on the landing if you want to get so pin point with the flaws. Broskow also did a much better grab and by grab I mean he didn't just slap the side of his skate.

You kind of don't have the option to over rotate with what DL did, like you said. So it kind of defeats the purpose of using that as an example, doesnt it?
I dont think it's an argument of which is harder, more of which looked better. Which is just opinion. But skating fast and doing a grabbed fakie 5 and turning the top half of your body a little bit after makes for a better looking fakie 5 that tapping the side of your skate and not tucking your legs. Opinion.

There's a couple tricks in random TNS edits online, I'm surprised you didn't see me skate at Etnies when I lived in OC for a year. But I don't present myself as someone skating at the elite level, so feel free to criticize how my skating looks I'm sure I'll agree with you.

Just think about how a fakie 540 should be done. You're looking forward over your left shoulder, and you're gonna spin to your left (no illusion). During the spin, if your head is neutral or cocked to the right you dun goofed. You can flap your arms & running man all you want to make it around, whatever.....it doesn't count.

I don't really care how it looks. When I skate speed & air are the priorities, tricks & style not so much. It's rare that someone points a camera at me, and when they do I'm more concerned with seeing how high I go or remembering what it felt like doing it.
