View Full Version : Are Xsjados really that different?
Hi.
I started skating in 2003 or 2004, but stopped skating 2 or 3 years ago. Now I want to start skating again and am looking for some new skates. And I'm looking for some advice, because I'm a little confused.
I have a chance to buy Xsjados Pioneer 10 for about 220 bucks or I can pay about 50 dollars more and get Razors Genesys 7.1 with Ground Control Formula 1 Freestyle Frame or Remz OS. 3 (with the same frame).
I've heard mixed opinions about Xsjados: some people say that these are the best skates that they ever had, other people say that these skates aren't very good.
Money is an issue here, so Xsjados seems like the best idea. However I'm afraid of a few things:
1. Are Xsjados really that different when it comes to skating? My last skates were Deshi Spizers 2 and I loved them. If I buy Xsjados now, would it be difficult for me to get used to them? Are they very different when it comes to stiffness, durability, plates (speed, groove and so on), skating feel? If you can compare them to Deshis or other "traditional" skates such as Razors, that would be great.
2. I've noticed that many people who skate Xsjados have almost the same style. Is it because the way Xsjados are made make you skate in a certain way? Or maybe it's just me and there's no such thing as "Xsjado style"? I have seen only a few guys who have a different style on Xsjados... When it comes to other skates, most people have different style on them. Or maybe I just haven't seen too many videos with Xsjados and my opinion is based on a few edits with guys who try to have the same style as Farmer or Stockwell...
3. I'm an oldschool guy, I don't like this tight pants stuff and I love classic skating style so Xsjados aren't super convincing for me. Do you think that I should give them a shot anyway or get more "traditional" Razors Genesis 7.1 (I also had some Razors a few years ago) or try Remz OS. 3 (haven't skated Remz, but they are more convincing than Xsjados)?

I skate xsjados and love them. I would consider myself old school and they feel completely different than skates I used when younger. Might be best to go with razors or remz as they will have more of a traditional feel.
You should avoid the pioneer as they are not true to the xsjado fit, the upper strap is what is called the "mono" strap. Some people prefer it, but it may not work well for you. Size is also a factor, if you cannot get into a sz9(maybe 9.5) and under, they are not really worth it. sz10+ is all the same shell size and will feel very big, kind of like skis, no joke. Unless you are a 12+ then it's fine.
When I first got back into skating, I rode remz and it was a good ease back into rolling.
Thanks for help. My size is about 12, so it's fine. But if these straps aren't good, then now I'm almost 100% sure that I won't buy them, because I hate skates that break fast, especially straps or buckles.
Which new Remz do you recommend? Because I can buy either Remz OS. 3 or I found out that I can buy for almost the same price Remz - HR 1.1 with Ground Control - Featherlite 2 Freestyle frame.

i've been skating xsjados since about 07. never tried remz...
the main thing you'll notice about skating xsjados is that the cuff goes straight to the soul. but this won't take away from any flex. it might take a little while to get used to, but it's no biggie at all. it's just a little different since the flex point feels more solid. unlike with razors where you can feel it flex by the cuff bolts. you'll have to break them in somewhat. some people have said that they wear real fast, but i've been on those same skates since... 07... i don't skate much anymore but they are definitely durable. the souls are huge and the backslide groove is better than it looks. they slide like butter as well, i grind unwaxed curbs all the time. and sizing was perfect because i just used some diesel shoes as footwraps. the biggest size on the small shell, worked great. will work well for you if you're a 12 in a big shell.
my advice would be to get the new avants if anything. i always wanted just a teeny tiny bit more flex, and they come with a little vcut.
the one time i tried skating remz they felt like ankle breakers, my legs/ feet just aren't strong enough to support them or something.
but if all else fails. any razors skate is all around solid.

^ def. agree about the flex part regarding razors now that I think about it. That would explain why I lost 2 cuff bolts in the past month... :P
Thanks for such a detailed post cali4niaisdead! For the same price as Avants I can get either Remz or Razors Genesis 7.1 (even a little cheaper) and since I'm not very convinced when it comes to Xsjados, Razors seems like a better idea, cause I'm afraid that Remz can be too flexible which is not a good thing.
I wish I bought razors instead of the rb solo eras I did buy. The cult bs plate is just plain consistent, and I still may buy some.
What about Xsjados Wilson with Ground Control F1 Freestyle frame? Are they any better than Pioneer 10?

Xsjados, try em. Feel good man. Razors are razors, stiff, supportive, high cuff, etc. No changes since forever, but if it ain't broke....
Xsjados are flexy in a different way from most skates, yet extremely supportive for all their flex. Aircraft carrier wide souls. No complaints on durability here on either skate.

I decided to try Xsjados Wilson. Thanks for help. The thread can be closed.

no it hasn't
Post back how you like them mang. I'm still just noobing around, but if anything I really like how jads feel and the fact that I don't have to lug a pair of goddamn shoes around. That and literally most shoes fit perfectly.

Most shoes fit, but "perfectly" is kind of a stretch. Footwraps are designed to work best in the skate. Even pumas feel uncomfortable to me, because there is a lot of support in the actual foot wrap itself. Like half way between a climbing shoe and a shell toe.
Pumas tend to very narrow and round-ish, I noticed that most "wide" sneakers and even dress shoes actually work very well.

Stop right there pardner. Xsjado is NOT pronounced "jah-doe". It's pronounced "Shadow".
Sorry, pet peeve of mine, along with "Pee-Sigh-Russ" and "Coop Dee Tatt".
Haha I know that, but I like to abbreviate them that way. Shad sounds odd, Xs or something is even worse, full one is too long.

No, they suck ass.

I don't like GC...
i'll only ride kizer, switch, or creates..
By the way, has anyone else had the problem of footwraps being TOO damn narrow up front? I got technically half a size up from my true size and I cannot wear the stupid things because they crush the fronts of my feet. NEVER had this issue with any kinda shoe before. Gonna try doing a whole size and a half up to see if it makes a difference because I really want to rock these things if possible.

the length was perfect but destroyed my little toes...
pumas ftw

pumas ftw
Pumas and other shoes like them are too skinny/narrow for large shells, so my feet were super wobbly when I tried my pumas in my jads. I'd either have to try small shells and deal w/ toe overhang or ditch the Puma thought in favor of skating shoes and etc.

try using shoe goo to secure the shoe...
i didnt need to in the end but was willing to try...
either
wrap the shell in clear plastic wrap, put the shoe on top and then fill in the gaps with show goo (goo sticks to shoe)
or
wrap the shoe up and fill in the gaps (goo sticks to shell)
either way awesome fit will be achieved..
Or just use regular skate shoes with wide soles lol
