SlimLine custom job

These frames have a lot of potential, so I bought a pair to play around with. What I say here applies to my skating style, so take it as you will.

The good;

- Light one-piece construction
- Big split & rockering options for flat & flat-rocker setups
- One-tool axles with a big flat metal face like original M12 axles.....METAL!!
- Metal spacers loose-fit in the frame, so there's no drag or torque on the bearings when you crank the axles down

The bad;

- Groove is insufficient for big middle wheels or flat-rocker options
- Frame is a little tall for given max wheel options

Facing a few mm off the top.I don't have UFS buttons on the Salomons (just frame bolted to the boot), so I don't need the UFS holes and would rather lose 3mm extra height. Not recommended for aggressive street skating, but flowing park should be fine. And I shaved the sidewalls so the bolts touch for soul tricks.

I've been brainstorming fixes for the groove, but anything I get on there is gonna be a pug-fugly hack job.....more so than the rest of my skates. :lol: :lol:

Setup with Flywheels that are worn to 60mm-ish and Hulgreens flat-rockered....this setup rolls FAST AS HELL!! If Kizer get the groove sorted & use Al's trick for 56s rockered up, SlimLine 2s are gonna be :shock: :shock: .

Woah. That frame setup looks like it would feel like rec skate speed and maneuverability but with grinder capabilities.

I passed on the Slimline for now because of the height. I have my massive box of 57's that I want to use... But without being able to rocker them up I would be in awkward town on my skates.

Apart from the huge air in that picture being awesome. That picture is awesome because it looks like it could have came from a lost issue of Daily Bread. That's a good thing!

Is that frame setup going to be too long for your Carbons?

I want the bolts to touch 'cos I don't grind on real street anymore, just park metal.

If I can shoehorn 62/58 into SlimLine 2s and shave 'em like this, they'll be low as it goes. My mate Dale from Brisbane was here so I dragged him out to shoot the old dog on skates. The frames are a little longer than I'd like (and they're gonna look way too long on Carbons) but it's not a big problem for my skating style.

That picture is fucking sweet.

And the frames look so much better with the sides shaved down.

But like you said, thats only going to work well for park.

if the middle bolts stick out more, they will be fast as fuck on coping. i used to do that on my park setup senate frames.

pretty nice
i shave down the ufs nubs on all my souls so i can slide the frame forwards or backwards depending on what will work better.
and having your bolts lsiding on coping will be nice
i skate wayyy too much street for that to be practical for me.
but i use 5050s and salomon frames with the humw inserts so theyre plenty fast on coping :).
but i like your design far more than the stock version.
also, i have never run into a durability problem or any kind of problem with not having the ufs nubs
the groove for the frame in the souls has always been enough

I'm riding the frames too and I like them. I'm riding 60mm face wheels flat. If I was going to fix one thing on them it would be the groove. If it wasn't so deep and wide and was instead smaller and shallower it would keep big wheels from hitting. The way they have them the groove is just too deep.

I also think the holes in the frames for the rockers are too big and my rockers don't feel like they are held solid.

Other than that, they're ok.

I think the small Salo souls make the frames look taller, they weren't that bad when I tried them out on a friends skates.

56s rockered up on SlimLines is just a little taller than ideal, but nothing like the Switch frame or even the Elements. It's amazing the difference a few mm of stance height makes.

If you cut the web above the outer wheels you could probably fit 72s rockered down with Solo boots, but you'd have to run anti-rocker and the wheels would stick out the bottom of the frame all weird.

The Symmetricals were designed for use with the Cult BSP, the Lo-Pro's were designed to be used with the bare boot backslide. Good luck finding either :(

Yeah, it's running a real basic G-code program I wrote (I don't trust myself with more complex stuff yet). Sure is fun though. :D
