So the past two sessions I've been getting some hard pains in my right leg, just above my ankle. Feels like the* carbon fiber shell is pressing against my leg. I lace them all the way up, straps & buckles tight like usual. Its not too serious because after skating for 4 hours straight the pain goes away after about 10-15 minutes.

Anybody else having this issue?

have you heat molded them?

Been did that 3 or 4 months ago. And it feels like the top edge of the shell.

Have you had them 3 or 4 months or literally had two sessions? If they're still new, it's quite normal man. Had this as well the first few sessions. I guessed it was a combination of the padding breaking in and ankle muscles getting used to a lower cuff skate.

Feel great now 3 months in, no more ankle pains, just pure comfort.

Occasionally i get a pain on the outside of each ankle, but it's usually if I haven't skated in a week say, so prob just muscles getting a work out.

No, I've had them since, like, March and couldnt even begin to count how many times I've skated them. I usually skate for at least 4 hours at a time, and normally skate spot to spot through Philly. I'm kind of anxious because I'll be really disappointed if it gets to the point where I cant skate them anymore.

This pain is on the inside of my leg near the front, maybe an inch or two above my ankle. I'm going to take a short ace bandage with me tomorrow morning when i go skate in case it starts hurting again.

I thought it might be that, but the area of pain goes arcoss my leg, not up and down. And I do wear high socks, usually the amall jawns.

fatigue stress? sometimes i will get a persistent pain that just heals itself after a few days off the blades.

you know, i get it too sometimes. but it was other skates too. i think it's a combination of you skin, socks, and the tongue folding up on themselves when you bend and pushing on your skin.

This is a new thing that I havent experienced with any standard hardboot or the previous Carbon models. We shall see. I've made some adjustments to the fitment of the skates and whatnot. I'm heading out to skate in two hours.

It is the top of the shell.
It's just bad design.
Hate to say it but Valo got something right by cutting the carbonfiberglass an inch above the cuff bolts.

One day there might be clips of me if I can lace something while being filmed.

/stagefright :/

On a topic related note, I've exhausted all my ideas on how to relieve this pressure, so tomorrow night I'm going to take my heat gun to the one boot. The top edge of the shell curves inward above the cuff bolt on the right boot. Its not the same on the other boot. We'll see how it goes. I'm going to take it slow and see what i can do without destroying the inside & outside of the skin/liner jaunce.

I had the same thing happen with my deshi carbons, used these and it went away

My Carbon 2s hurt my ankle for a little while, but it turned out to be the tongue.

I actually have 2 pairs of those ankle sleeves, an ultra thin one and one that is 2mm thick. Neither one relieves the pressure. Its debilitating.

Are you sure you didn't just injure yourself and keep aggrivating an unhealed injury? A weird fall might have tweeked a tendon or something and it just needs a little time off.

Nah, its definitly the shell digging into my ankle bone. As soon as I can find my heat gun i'm going to begin. pics to come.

Okay, so I took my heat gun to the boot, with some small success as I didnt want to over do it and fuck the boot up or the cuff bolt receptor, which is in close proximity to the area thats causing the problem. I spent about 20 minutes slowly heating up the boot right near the edge of the cuff bolt and used a pair of vice grips to grip and bend the edge of the shell outwards very gingerly.

In this photo is displayed the problem area. above the cuffbolt you will observe a crease in the leather, going across from the eyelet. That is the top of the carbon shell that has been digging into my ankle bone.

This is something I would say is certainly atypical. its not an issue what so ever with my left foot. I would still buy them even knowing i could encounter this problem.

i know that videos say to mold the skate at 190-200 for about 10 minutes. but i just did mine at 300 for 10 minutes and it was really soft and alleviated a lot of pressure points. (the 300 was a mistake as i meant to put 200. but i work 12 hr days so i was delirious) this might help you. or maybe just doing the 200 degrees and waiting till the skate is really soft.

maybe this will help.
