Public transportation in Indianapolis is not as far reaching as you'd expect for a metro area of about 1.75 million. I live too far from work to bike to it, and when winter rolls around, forget about it.

Can't wait for my New Mexico road trip next year for the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albuquerque_International_Balloon_Fiesta).

I wanna know how you tolerate the bus system in Pinellas.

Do you ride your bike on the sidewalk?

I commute by bike when I am able. I.E. not time constrained or carrying obnoxious amounts of shit. I long for the day that I can commute to work.

:( I wish. I live about 6 miles from work but I need my car to carry parts because I'm a service technician.

That was a real sick video Charlie. :) Glad you're still killing it.

I have a car, but I ride the bus to school/work every day. No way I'm adding to the cluttered city centre, plus it's cheaper. In spring the whole centre will become a no-free parking zone, hope that will make the motherfuckers ride tha bus. I use the car in the evening and on weekends sometimes, it's good for going rollerblading or going somewhere for a short period of time, when I'd spend more time in the bus than getting shit done.

(About) 2.5 years ago I sold my failing car and threw myself upon the mercy of my bike as sole transportation. Soon after, I naively agreed to relocate to Tempe, Arizona (a good 1.5+ hour ride via Lightrail and bus and bike from work). It seriously sucked the fucking life out of me; imagine spending 4 hours of your day, 5 days a week commuting. I literally wanted nothing to do with anything.

Just got a car again and I'm loving it.

I spend 2 hours a day on the metro to and from work. It's usually pretty full, and you can't look at or speak to anyone for fear of discovering some new social frontier that has yet to be reached in the introvert metropolis that is Stockholm.

During summer I was riding my bike to and from work instead, and it was infinitely more awesome. I have a car but I only really use it to go rollerblading and grocery shopping.

It's sad to see how car-centric Indianapolis is. Is there even a rail system?

On another note, I think cities like Indianapolis need to seriously start considering an strengthened transit infrastructure. How else are we supposed to curb our use of petroleum if it's the only way one can get to work. I realize that urban/suburban sprawl has a lot to do with, but there is already a trend of people moving into dense metropolitan areas where there are quite a few more options for moving yourself around.

And Charlie don't ride on the fucking sidewalk. It's inconsiderate.

I cycle everywhere I can. Bucharest is pretty fucking crowded so cycling is the fastest way to get around town. Well as long as you're willing to get a bit sweaty for it. Also I ride my bike on the street 99%.
Shit's good. Keeps you fit and active. Works wonders for peripheral vision and attention.

I use public transport of cabs when I have to carry a lot of stuff and can't do it on my bike.

I realize that urban/suburban sprawl has a lot to do with, but there is already a trend of people moving into dense metropolitan areas where there are quite a few more options for moving yourself around.

The only rail system is a downtown people mover that services the medical campuses. It's mostly used by doctors and hospital staff, but is open to the public. I can get to the skate park in about 15 minutes by car, it would be well over an hour by bus. No thanks.

Starting in 2010, private industry leaders from Central Indiana proposed a $10 billion multimodal regional transportation plan that includes expanded roadways, express bus routes, light rail, and commuter rail pathways. If public and legislative approval is granted, construction could begin as soon as 2012.

The city has been under constant construction since it was announced that Indianapolis would host the 2012 Super Bowl. A lot of the construction is wrapping up, and it's faster to get to the previously more congested areas of the city.

But, I'm glad that we have two cars. I doubt that I would even use public transportation unless I was already downtown and had to travel several blocks in a short amount of time.

As a social worker, my wife has to drive all central Indiana to check on the kids in her case load. I have to cart around 200 lbs. of photo booth equipment on the weekends, when I'm not shooting weddings. Plus, I have to drive across the state for other photography work.

I used to take the Metrolink from San Juan Capistrano to Los Angeles 3 days per week during college. Fuck that mess, $75 and 12 hours commuting per week on a cramped train...ugh.

Birmingham busdrivers are fucking assholes.

My grandad was a bus driver, he was down to earth and cool; if you were short on money he'd still let you ride. Just don't vandalise his whip and you're alright, the new dudes are cunts though. Back in the day it was English, Irish and Sikhs...now it's everyone but them. Not to mention the fucking scumbags you have to sit around depending on where you live, I can't count the number of drunk chavs I had to deal with on the train alone; miracle I never got robbed as a young 'un... Quark gets robbed by 2 black guys at a train station and accused of racism by a black Tesco employee within 6 months of being here...now that is unlucky haha.

Don't forget that I got beat up by a girl, too.

Oh, the memories.

Epic was always good though, the Cov session we had too. The bus drivers were always cunts, won't give you change, won't even look at you, just being bad people.

I haven't been in a car in months, I go everywhere on the skates in my sig. If it's wet I go on a bike. Thats the good thing about living in a small city like Barcelona though, within 45 minutes to an hour you can skate end to end if you power it. Also you go faster than traffic on Powerblades on the same roads...feels amazing. I sold my car as soon as I moved to the centre of town, and I'm so glad.

fuck the pinellas county buses, back before i had my license we would take them and get dropped off in a random spot to skate, then have no way of getting home. recently i got a sick deal on a dual sport bike, it gets very good mpg. it's street legal but can be ridden off road so I'm pretty much unstoppable now
