View Full Version : Ground Control video review
I kept my hopes pretty low, after seeing the editing style in the trailer. I expected it to be another over-hyped video with Drake remixes and lots of teal parts. This video turned out to be amazing and in the three days I've had it I've watched the whole thing probably 6 times (I always turn it on to watch a specific section but I get distracted because of how good it is and end up watching the whole thing). I'm glad to say that I was way off in judging the editing. Theres slow motion, but done at the right parts (like showing a rail bending under the weight of Chaz Sands). Theres also a pretty well rounded music selection. Nothing too out there, but it keeps you watching and you dont get a headache. There are a lot of pretty interesting angles and shots in this video too. I'd like to say this video has the trick skill level from Game theory, the story telling aspects of 4Life, and the originality in the filming of Traitement (without the pretentious flower shots). It's the best elements from all three put into one video. It's like the Art of Flight for rollerblading (and by that I mean they used some of the same songs from Art of Flight :D ). Sections of Jansons, Burston, Sands, Bah (way better than his Game Theory section), Chase, and Aragon. All of them are amazing, like they were trying harder for this video than for other recent ones. Chase and Aragon steal the show, and I'm thinking this is definitely in the top 2 of all of Aragon's sections (possibly his best, but Ego was pretty amazing). It's my favorite Aragon section ever. Anyways I'm rambling but this is the first video to exceed my expectations in the past few years and no one else really review it that I saw. It's a lot of big crazy tricks and they make it look fun. Buy it:

I pretty much feel the exact same way as you. This is my 3rd time watching it (as I type this) in the 24 hours I've had it. I mentioned on FB that it was great seeing an Aragon part that wasn't horribly filmed, edited to a shit song, and edited like shit. DEFINITELY my favorite Aragon part. Joey's part is my favorite in the video tho....dood is too fucking raw. The only thing I disagree with you about is where to purchase it from. http://www.facebook.com/sdsfskateshop ;)

But when the reviewer stands to benefit even a little by giving it a positive review and subsequently motivating others to buy it, the entire process is tainted and the credibility of the review is questionable.

He had a section and it was great. It was really cool to see such a variety of tricks from him. He does the dopest backslide on this square drop rail.
Chaz has a real dope part and it isn't all rails. He does some really dope shit involving banks/launches.

This video is epic. I just finished watching it again. It has a good build up, getting better and better, section by section. Hyden's section is sick, and Chaz Sands' section is becoming one of my favorite. I expected him to have fallen off hard, but his section is ridiculously good and he seems to have cleaned up his style a lot.

Regardless was pretty good. That Newsom section was kinda dissapointing and Daffick's section was pretty shitty but other that that it is a good video. Music was not my cup of tea but it wasn't that bad.

Regardless was not bad. The theme got old quickly though. Still pretty good skating.

It is well worth adding to my DVD collection, I dont normally buy skate videos and I am happy to say that this is one of those videos that makes you want to go skating after seeing. Very diverse!

if you havent seen the gc video your fucking up hard. its absolutely fucking incredible. incredibly diverse, well balanced skating. joey chase has the best section in my opinion, its fucking raw as hell. damien wilsons section is pretty wack relative to the other parts. some people might think its over edited. maybe not. professional as hell without coming off as being over the top. buy it.
In my opinion I didn't like it as much as I thought I would. I really only liked Nils, Burston, Chase, and Aragons sections. There was good skating just some of the music ruined it for me (Chaz Sandz using that gay mumford & sons song) and idk if it was just me but it seemed really short compared to the number of sections it had and Nils and Aragon used some of their clips from this video in their wrs edits so that was kinda of stupid but it was still a good video I guess I just had my hopes really high or something.

I was surprised that j-bah's section turned out to be my favorite in the video. He didn't come across as a huge douche in his personality clips either. Just a goofy ass dude.

Can you be a little more over dramatic? Not GC's fault Haffey and Franky quit. Chaz sucks, Joey sucks, Burston sucks, Hyden sucks, Nils sucks, Damien sucks...all these guys suck. Aragon is ok he just does topsoul 900 out and big rail transfers and literally anything, he's ok. These are the types of videos that get ppl outside of rollerblading interested in rollerblading. The trailer was posted on so many different websites and has a shit ton of views, not just from rollerbladers. Ppl aren't gonna get interested in rollerblading by seeing a bunch of doods with jean vests on drinking beer and spitting on cameras.

bought this video and was impressed! enjoyed the skating a lot. i've played this video for its soundtrack while cleaning the house, doing laundry, servicing my skates, working on my car in a portable dvd player. all those tasks took longer than normal cause i can't help but watch!
