Dorm life. Most of us will go through college with the life changing experience of living in the dorms. Although it's mandatory for freshmen to live in the dorm, the social life of it is not too bad. The one major problem most face though is the meal plan. Meal plans are designed to allow students the freedom to eat anywhere on campus and not worry about having cash. There are many options to choose from on campus and the meal plan covers all of our restaurants. Meal plans are based on a weekly cycle and will reset each Sunday at midnight. "Meals" may be used at Couch Restaurants, which is an all-you-care-to-eat facility. When Couch Restaurants are closed you may use a meal for meal exchange at any of our other dining locations. Meal exchange allows you to use one of your meals to spend up to $6.00 towards a meal at participating locations (OU Housing and Food). That just sounds like it would be a hassle right? I mean it did take my roommates and I about 2 weeks to understand the whole system!
We are forced to live in the dorms and have a meal plan yet we're not given a fair deal. One example is meal exchange hours are from 2:30-4:30 and after 8:00, which is when the cafeteria closes. The girls on my floor and I briefly spoke on our disapproval of the meal exchange hours and came to a common agreement. Whenever we wait to use our meal exchanges between 2:30 and 4:30, we almost always eat a a later dinner since our previous meal was later than what we were used to eating. By the time we get hungry again, which IS after 8:00 (the closing of the cafeteria), our choices are strictly limited to Burger King and the Cate Center. Both of which, aren't the healthiest options. As told during freshman orientation, the cafeteria was designed to provide healthy eating options for those who use the meal plans. So if our "healthy" cafeteria closes earlier than when want to eat dinner, what's it's purpose? Meal exchange hours at OU are designed to be...

First dorm I lived in was 3 bedrooms with 6 dudes. Sucked. The sink was always stacked with dishes so it wasn't useable. I did my dishes as I used them in the bathroom sink. I also kept everything I could (so everything but refrigerated food) in my room rather than the common area because the other dudes were scumbags. The guy in my bedroom was a complete shut in. Did nothing but play online games and not shower.

My second semester I moved in with this dweeb I've been living with ever since.

Dorm life can be real interesting. I've been paired up with people who I thought I would never be friends with and never like on the outside. I lived in a dorm like environment for 3 years thnx to the governments.

Currently living in dorms. I'm 23 ( transfer student) and got stuck in a building with a bunch of 18 year olds. partying with freshmen gets kinda old, sometimes I just feel like going to a bar. Luckily my roommate is cool, he took it quite well when I told him I rollerblade.

I had a random roomate who never washed his sheets and covers and jacked off using my computer for porn while I was gone. He was hardly ever friendly and never talked to anyone on my floor.

I, however, had a great time participating in the debauchery my floor got into on a weekly basis, we all got along great and I never had to be in my room much. Then he got kicked out and I had a single for part of the 2nd semester.

i lived with a long time buddy in a dorm when we went away to college. Freshman year was awesome because we would chill and drink beers and listen to metal really loud and shit, but we made the mistake of rooming together sophmore year and we got tired of eachother. He got a real cunty girlfriend who was extremely hot so she tried to call the shots all the time and my pussy whipped friend turned on me a little bit. Its all good now though. The floor i lived on freshman year was sick though, we didnt have an RA on our floor for the first month, so it got wild. Besides for my roomate and I, there were maybe 4 or 5 other dudes that actually liked to go out and party, everyone else just liked to get drunk and play video games and stuff. The dorms at my school was like a big complex with 7 buildings that housed kids with mad court yards and stuff, so it was an absolute free for all some nights when people were drunk walking around

We had this one kid on our floor who was 24, and he would get superrrr drunk and break shit. We watched him get tackled by campus security 3 times before he actually got thrown out, he was like related to the dean or something so he got off the hook.

Definitely theee fucking worst when you spend too much time with your buddy and small shit like them breathing starts to annoy you.

My freshman year of college was just over 10 years ago now, and it was one of the funnest times of my life.

I went in blind in a room with 3 other guys, and none of them knew each other either. For the first 3 months, I spent no time with them or anyone else...I was always staying with the hot girls that I knew a few floor up from back home. I became this mystery to my roommates and everyone else on that floor--until I decided to give hanging out with them a shot...

Realized I was blessed with the most awesome people living on my floor...I slept in each one of those 12 rooms at least once and everyone grew super close, and we would all get hammered together, trip together, roll together, etc.

One of my roommates was a fatter hippy kid, and despite smelling like prachuli(sp?) he was super anal about cleaning, so our room was always in tip top shape and a spot everyone wanted to chill in. However, he ended up ratting on one of my roommates when his friends from home came up for drinking/drugging, so we kicked him out.

God those were awesome times...I pretty much never went to class that year--I had some great scholarships that I lost the first semester. Always had a 3.8+ gpa and all I needed was to maintain a 3.25...well, I got a 1.8 because I would miss tests, projects, etc. for never showing up. I don't regret that for anything, as it was fun as hell and I turned everything around the following year by just making sure I went to class.

Second year I got kicked out of my room and had to live in the 'guest' room in the main lobby because I threatened my roommate and his girlfriend that I would murder them with the knife in my car--I had no car and no knife up at school. So they finally moved me to a new room, in which the first 10 minutes of meeting my new roommates, they smoked me out and I was happy.

Hahaha, thanks for letting me reminisce about some old times.

my room freshman year was sick it was all the way in the corner of the building, right on the corner of a busy intersection of the city. It was next to a stairway that no one ever really used and if we went up one flight of stairs there was a door to the roof that we discovered was opened. Other people figured it out as well and it became a real sick spot to blaze Ls and drink. I got smoked up so many times because people would walk by my room, id be in there chillin with the door open, it was awesome. There was also a couple crazy car accidents that happened on the street outside our window too. We had prime placement to see the street too which proved to be fun to yell things at drunk girls and lame bros

nope not at all. It would be like having an apartment paid for by your parents with thousands of other kids living in the same buildings as you. I am very jealous of anyone that was able to attend university. But going to college bullshit compared to real life experience. Unless you have made the right connections your philosophy / woman's lit degree isn't worth shit, let alone the 50,000 your parents spent.
