Well, i actually though i would never come to this but here I'm ranting on be-mag.

My sleep pattern is pretty fucked up due to working night shift. So on the casual days i end up staying up late, so last night i ended up staying up pretty late, watched valo 4 and got really stoked to skate looked outside and it was getting light too, suddenly i got this owe feeling 4am inspiration and decided to go skate big red rail. England is weird man it pisses it down all day but still there is a gap between 4am till 11am when its crystal clear then fucking clouds usually appear out of nowhere. So i was like man its perfect no people outside cant get kicked out, no cars. I got there did royal, got very comfortable and confident so i started trying top souls. I missed about 2 and locked it the third time was so fucking happy as i never did a top soul on anything that high. as i roll away from the rail i though to myself something doesn't feel right :s i looked at my skates and noticed that my left soul plate was unscrewed i though all the bolts came out so i took my skate off to see that they are there and attached so i got confused. I didn't have allen key with me at the time so i had to walk back home. I got home and fell asleep. Woke up remembered about my skates unscrewed the front bit of the soul plate to find the following:

The carbon started unlayering somehow :s and the bolts sunk thru.

http://i47.tinypic.com/wb29dv.jpg

if i put tiny bit of pressure inside the crack appear

http://i48.tinypic.com/23sgevs.jpg

the other side didnt look so bad but the top layer of carbon was chipping off pretty bad so i pilled it off to find this

http://i45.tinypic.com/ih3891.jpg

it look all mashed up and shredded. I investigated now my arms are itching because of that white flakey stuff.

http://i45.tinypic.com/260var6.jpg

So at this point I'm pretty upset due to realizing that the skates are only 6 months old and already broke.

Found this crack in the toe area aswell

http://i49.tinypic.com/156afco.jpg

laced the laces

What makes it worse i wanted to sell those to get some Ab's. It sucks that i have to spend half of my wages to support brand only to find out that i wasted that money on nothing. i have been riding valo's for some period of time now, well roces/valo i kinda switched between two at times. I don't know it just angered upset me. Dont get me wrong i love valo's and i think they mega comfortable its just i think that the material is such a low quality or maybe even defected pair. The front rivets seem to be solid and total undamaged. I gonna check the other skate to see if there is any cracks etc.

Keep on rolling guys!

1. Label skates as carbon
2. Use fiberglass instead
3. ?????
4. Profit

Sound right?

This has happened before, although thats not to say its a common fault.

The t-nuts that hold the soul on just look so small - such a huge amount of pressure must be applied to such a small area of the carbon boot. Seems madness.

You should contact your shop - a refund or new skates is likely.

That would be FIBERGLASS making your arms itchy. Not Carbon.

You'd be better off sending these pictures to... not be-mag. Also you should've said they're valo lights, since the title is kind of misleading and sounds like you're talking about USD carbons.

thats because its fiberglass

so why is it being advertised as carbon if it has layers of fiberglass? I mean wouldn't that be considered as a misrepresentation! or is there a specific amount of fiberglass you can have in carbon

Those guys are running at what, $350 boot only? Yeah, I'd prefer the Roces in a skate condom with frames, wheels and bearings.

You should, and probably will get a refund. T-nuts ripping through the boot, even if its 1, is a manufacturer defect.

They will send you new shells or I would imagine if you ask nicely they would send you regular plastic shells. Most companies are pretty good about making a customer happy when something goes wrong with their product, give them a chance to make it right and don't be afraid to ask for stuff, just don't be a jerk about it.

Happened to me with the black and wines! I bought them form grindhouse and they sorted it for me so quickly I never even got a reply form valo which is a bit bullshit! But i got my shells replaced! Ive had the bsmiths for 3 weeks now and they are much better and the shell is different like thicker or more composed. If it breaks Ill be disappointed, I really like the skates but these problems are not fair for the price of the boots!

Well shit bro, get that shit checked out at a GP. If you're going to be a wuss about something, you might as well go all the way.

its probably aids then...

no joke, they recently discovered things like fiberglass can transfer the HIV through the skin, if it had came into contact with an HIV positive person's skin that was assembling them, and one of the main symptoms they found is a skin rash that starts out itchy. seriously, get it checked out.

07.07.2012, 19:32
Fiberglass has little shards of class that when they get on you they actually make really tiny cuts, and it itches with a slight burn like a rash. You are not allergic to carbon fiber, your skin just came in contact with some fiber class.

In this promo piece JJ said they tested the carbon shells for three years. I'm sure that was just to make the whole Valo light project a little bit epic-er. Nothing wrong with that, I guess. But the first run of shells really looked like they didn't test them at all. Those tiny washers, my god... Well, at least the souls are backwards compatible to a 20 years old boot that was never intended to be used as an aggressive skate...

I'd go for a plastic replacement shell. Rather than another carbon boot.

Valo really needed to insert stainless steel washers for the lace holes and bolts holes....into the carbon fibre.

hockey sticks were the same way when carbon fiber began to show up in them, they were mostly fiberglass with a layer of carbon. They would break so easily that guys would call me a pussy for having the same stick for half a season.
