Alley Oop Unity or Frontside Savannah?
AO Unity

No one gives a shit about Brandon Smith's opinions.
Everyone knows the trick name makes no sense.
No one cares if thats what its called where you're from.
It is so obviosuly wrong in every way possible.
There is actually no logical argument for it to be called that.
Giant block of wax.

I'm glad you got the name correct.
As long as I have been skating (since about 91) it has always been called an AO unity.
It makes sense in the same way that some one can AO 180/360/540.
Because that is just how it is.

It doesnt matter if thats what it was called back in the day or if you were skating since the 1900's
Of course it makes no sense
What should a fronside unity be called then?
Will you start saying true backslide or true royale instead of bs bacslide and bs royale?
have you not noticed that bs and fs savannah and bs and fs unity fit in completely with all the other groove trick names?
use some common sense.
What should a fronside unity be called then?
a unity.
What should a fronside unity be called then?
Will you start saying true backslide or true royale instead of bs bacslide and bs royale?
No, because they have established trick names regardless if it makes sense or not. Just like the AO unity does.

I get what you're saying but dont you think its time for some logical change and PROGRESSION? Seeing as the likelyhood is the majority of people who rollerblade dont call it that and there isn't really any sound logic to calling it an alley oop unity.
The chances are if you did a survey the established trick name would not be alley oop unity.
Whoever called it that did not think things through.
Im going to ignore the blatent potholes in your response to the frontside unity question.

Exactly. The worst argument is that H-Block tricks can't be true-spin or alley-oop.

Some of you fuckers are dumb. It is called an AO Unity. AO Unity, Tru Unity, Backside Unity, Unity. It's that simple. And, yes, you can also Tru Spin Royale.

i think its funny that everyone automatically assumes that ao was originally said to be only for soul tricks. i dont ever remember anyone coming out in a video or mag or anything saying alley oop only pertains to soul tricks. i remember doing back farvs back in the day and everyone calling it an ao royale...then out of nowhere it was a farvegnugen or whatever and then it became full torq.
ao was always describing the motions of a trick sliding in the opposite direction that its normally done or was originally done. when unity's were first done the opposite way of doing a unity was an ao unity....makes perfect sense.

Ride Like Aaron was the first time I ever heard the term "Savannah" and it was being used to describe a forward 270 backside unity.

trick names are changed like 270 back ao unity to savannah to simplify the terms we have to use. just like ao topside mistrial is a misfit.
i hadnt heard the term front savannah until i started coming on be-mag a lot. and when i first read it i thought it was really dumb.
.
oh god charlie hustles, you just denied yourself any legitimacy.
the argument "there can be no true-spin or alley-oop H-block tricks" is because spinning in to H-block tricks requires either a 90 or 270 degree turn. Spinning into soulplate tricks require a 180 or a 360 degree turn.
since alley-oops, and truespins, require a 180 turn on, they are differentiated from H-block tricks like frontside savannah that require only a 90 degree turn on.
no one calls it ao frontside. or ao front farf. its just front farf. just like front savannah. it boggles my mind that people still don't get this..

it boggles my mind that you dont understand the natural order of how things were done.
when farvs were first done i remember mad people in california saying ao royale not ao farv...the term farv or farvegnugen hadnt been introduced yet. plus you seem to neglect to see that ao doesnt refer to the spin it refers to the direction your sliding the trick. if a pornstar was done sliding forward then what would be the opposite direction...sliding backwards right? making it an ao pornstar. now take that and apply it to back in the day when terms werent made up yet. the opposite way of sliding a royale would be a farv now making it an ao royale to many people before the term farv was introduced.
get it?

get it?
should we go back to riding lightnings and having metal grindplates?
the terms evolve to their proper names for the natural purpose of any evolution which is efficiency.
ALSO,
"Alley oop" does in fact, refer to the spin.... you could be sliding BACKWARDS on that pornstar you spoke of ^, yet not be aware of wether it was truespin, or alley-oop. those titles dictate which way you turn in relation to the rail when you spin on, so yes it does in fact refer to the spin, NOT the direction you are sliding on the rail like you said....
* that 'backwards sliding pornstar' could have been zero-spin, too. who knows. no one without those trick prefixes/identifiers, whatev.
okay everyone shut the fuck up about this repeating subject.
it doesnt matter about the name, if i tell you i did an ao unity you will know exactly what im talking about even if you call it front sav. the name is errelivant, no one person will convince half the rollerblading community to change their vocabulary. it will always have two names. everyone thinks they are right, these arguments go no where.

pretty true.
but i've heard confused peeps call 270 backside savannah's 'AO unity' as well. so AO unity always confused me. there is no argument. only people left naming incorrectly.
remember how pro daily bread was at naming tricks.
HAH... who the hell was in charge of that. angie maybe.

i swear my friend had a picture of fabiola doing a royale on a 9 stair and the caption below it said "Fabiola Da Silva - Japan Air"
yea they were terrible
Seeing as the likelyhood is the majority of people who rollerblade dont call it that and there isn't really any sound logic to calling it an alley oop unity.
im sure every person ive skated with calls it a ao unity

west coasters... just like they illogically call outspin topsouls 'hardspin' topsouls... when we call every half-cab trick by inspin or outspin.
no one calls it AO unity on the east coast. it seems to me that the differences in trick names / the mis-naming is usually due to location

So a savanah is a fake trick?
It doesn't exist?
What everyone that I know calls a savanah a "savanah" were really just wrong because it was a AO unity?
So a kindgrind isn't a real trick either?? right????
God I'm so stupid. Let's just keep calling Kindgrinds ally opp topside mizus. Because obviously that's what it is.
