for the cuff
which do you guys prefer
i have some nimhs i've been thinking about using straps instead of buckles
i lace up the cuff and that gets it pretty tight already, i just thought a starp would give the same support but a little more flex
thoughts?

It's really not about flex. Straps are sweet because you can tighten them in increments.

I prefer straps because I can tighten my skates as tight as possible without getting pinched like a buckle.

I wish all skates had a really durable strap system. In my experience, skates that have straps, the straps go to shit about 3 times faster than the life of the skate.

If skate companies had an awesome strap system as well as provided extra straps, life would be good.

Im looking at you xsjado.

The straps on the new RB's look super durable. Remedyz were hidden inside the skin and same with Remz. The old Deshi straps lasted a while I could never get them tight enough though.

i was thinking of using the solo straps because they're readily available and i haven't heard of any durability issues

Buckles are better because they don't flex. I want to have only so much give in my skates and know that it's going to be solid at a certain point. Wide buckles (as to eliminate a pressure point) or cloth buckles would be ideal, though. I don't think a company has gotten it right yet.

I rode my Nimhs with Xsjado Straps and they were amazing in my opinion. Straps don't require buckle protectors. Those Nimh buckles are huge, tear up your pants, and get bent as F the first few times you hit them on a ledge. At least that was my experience.

i havent found a strap good enough for salomons
i used a remz strap for a session or two with the hole drilled furthur back on the inside
felt fine
it was nice that my pants could go over it
but that was the only benefit i found
