Steez?
they are honesly the only skate that has fit my foot. all other skates have been too small usually so i had to wear big sizes and stuff. but salos are mad comfy with lots of support. the soul plates are big enough
I used to hate them, but I'm now skating a pair and i'm quite pleased. I figured i could try some and if i didn't like them i could always sell them, but im good to go. Be skating some for a while.
i <3 salomons

im with you. i never liked salos boots or liners. i seriously think theyre over rated. i mean the only thing i'll give praise for is that theyre super light. and thats about it.

I hated them when I first started skating but I also tried my first pair with widebodies and the setup wasnt exactly in great condition so they felt clunky and terrible. Id really like a pair now to try again.
I had the St 90 back in the days. Loved the fit and their slim design and everything, but found them incredibly slow for soulgrinds.
Good skates, but I definitely won’t kill for them...
they're not that good. but i like them alot cause it was the skate i learnt on, can still do tricks in my st10's that i cant in anything else.
just like how small they are really.

They were really bulky and uncomfortable when I skated them,I was never a fan.

The fit & function of the boot is top quality and the design was light years ahead in '98, but the sole/BS setup is way behind the times now. WideBody = LOL. I guess Salomon put their faith in Xsjado as being the "real street" skate, and never updated the ST.

I really liked those, even though the only pair I ever own was a pair of ST90.
I got to skate my friend's Brandon Campbell though, without the widebodies, and they were the shit.
If I weren't such a Remz fan, I sure would have been skating some Salomon.

Salomons don't need backslide plates! That is the whole point of them: steez. Those souls did wear down too quick, but that is where Night came in.

They are the only skates I have ever skated that didn't hurt my feet after 15 minutes of skating. I don't think I'll ever try another brand again.

Backslides on the boot shell are soo '95, and the WideBody is like a big fat plastic band-aid. I love the boots, but this has fail written all over it. Luckily the flat sole makes it easier to fit any sole/BS setup you like. Night did good, and Justin's SL deal looks good too.

my st8s were so comfy but i haven't had a pair on my feet since. i'd like another pair. how do theyre shell sizes go?
Most solid skate I've ever rode. As Charlie said, "steez". Everything I do in these skates feels 100 times better. Not to mention they're light as shit, one of the smallest looking hardboots, and incredibly comfortable.
Although I disagree on the backslide plate comment. I need some immediately. The slide is too inconsistent without a bs plate.

I learned how to fastslide in those, they have the best frame/frame height combo ever for them. Now I can do them in what ever skates but they still feel the best in salo's. What I would give for a fresh pair of ST9's and ST8's, the blue and creme colors were sooooooooooooooooo sick. I had like three pairs of ST9's in a row, even when they were 300, well I guess back then my parents paid but I had to work for em.

best skates. wish salomon was still around. be sick to see what they could come up with= different molds etc, even though they did produce the 1st gen xsjados. they had the money to do lots of things.

Who the fuck ever skated widebodies? Those things are wack as fuck. I always skated the stock souls. I even skated them to the point where they were so small that I couldn't lock onto tricks without using my entire body weight to balance me out because there was no soul-space left. Then I got Nights and they are the shit, but don't look dumb. The whole point of no backslide plate is that it makes you get super-low on your groove tricks and you have to steez them out. Why do you think that tru unities look so fucking dope in them? You're riding on the boot. Backslide plates make it way to easy to be sloppy. Just my opinion. I"ve been skating Stock Salomons for 8 of the 10 years that I have been skating. I even love the frames!

I agree with you on the low-profile feel, putting as little distance between your foot & the grind as possible.....but this can be done without forcing skaters to royale a hole in their boot shell.

I don't know, man. I've been skating the same 2 boots for 8 years, I mostly do royales, bs royales, backslides, bs backslides, and 270 back nugens, and I've never worn a hole in mine.
There is nothing and i mean nothing that can compare to a legit salomon groove. Its the original make your own, it adapts completely to the way you skate. I can backslide for miles on my groove. Back royales feel so good. Never miss, never slip, stock souls for life.

they make back farvs much more difficult than they need to be
I had 4 pairs of salos, and used the liner in most of my skates till xsjados, I'm going to say the liner is better than the skate itself.

YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG!
Any salo heads feel real paranoid when they see a pair for sale. I want to buy them all just so my supply never runs out and i have to skate something else. Maybe the day another company figures out the idea of ergonomics.

So does this mean you're over Xsjado's now?

Xsjado's skate really dope, but they are just too wide and bulky for my liking. And I wore a size 6 in them.
I have both and like them each for different reasons.
other than how amazingly comfy the liners are im not a huge fan
