I hate mooks. They are slow. And too short. And the hardware sucks.

these frames are much slower than my 5050s, for sure. i also had the same issue with my first mooks. that is why, this time around, i made little notches in the centre of the frame.

Size 8, I can fit the 7's length wise but my feet are so fat and my instep is huge, shell hurts my feet so much.

Skated them today, they're super awesome. Riding flat is gonna take some getting used to, but I like the turning ability and riding around is silky smooth.

Not quite sure; never tried.The Cults are a little more narrow in the back and a lot wider in the front. Might be more trouble than it's worth, but anything is possible with a belt sander and dremel tool.

just got the red and black 250ccs today. i was waterproofing all of my skates today, so that's why the 250ccs are boot only. i am not making the red and black 250ccs UFS, they are staying original. more pictures to come when I put them back together. extensive review on the Varsities next month. :D

I'm guessing you actually have a smaller-than-size-10 foot so the small frames will feel better than larger ones. I've always preferred smaller frames, contrary to most people, because I feel more control on them.

how to : Take razors , remove the 1 piece souls , cut the out or inside( larger negatives ) off with a jig saw ... then attach that to skate ( ex. you will have a razor soul plate with one side missing ) then take a grinding wheel and grind down the razor wings on front and back ( see how solomons are and make similar ) then put your wide bodies in place ( may need to grind them in certain areas ) then take two screws and attach them through the exsiting holes to the skate where u need them .... then drill 4 new holes and bolt them on ... finally remove your screws and your done ...

LOL! how are the to skate? look dope as hell. dont they feel abit high up though with the back of the skate on the original soul?

i have put them on but i haven't skated them yet. the yellow and red parts of the boot and tongue are starting to rub off en mass, so i have been spraying them down with silicone spray to give them a protective coating. i won't put laces in them until the colors stop rubbing off.

the soul plates are less than 1/4 inch at the heels, so it's not too bad. and, these skates actually have a raised heel anyway. when i cut off the remaining soul area, the front of the boot only dropped about 1/8 inch. so, it's not even but it's not a huge raise.

They're sick, i wish i could find those liners in an 8 or an 8.5 but nowhere has any.

So i got bored of full black skates and decided i wanted to change them up somehow, i really wanted some light grey skins so decided to get started on making them grey. First of all i tried bleaching them to see if that would work but it did nothing apart from turn the stitching for the moon orange so i decided my only option was going to be paint and i finally did it today and got them put together.

Well, I have been skating the Open Shell ever since the Franky boots came out (I even had two pairs of those), and I've had every OS boot to come out ever since, so I couldn't compare the two, or at least not the recent models.

I'm sure that in terms of comfort, the normal boots must be more enjoyable, but I really like the slimmer look of the OS though, and there's been a lot of improvements since the Frankys. Besides the rivets thing (which was easy enough to fix) and the V-Cut, it mostly comes down to the liner getting better every time. The last Jug liner in the OS3 was great, and I can't wait to see what Kato will come up with for the 4th boot (for those that didn't notice, that's the real change : goodbye Jug liners, hello again Remz gloves for your feet) !

They're the evos that originally came with purple cuffs... I hate purple so I copped my buddy's eisler cuffs.


On a side note, I would stay clear of sifika liners and cop some jug argyles or some trust liners. You will be a much happier person. The only sifika liners that close to OK are the Chicago liners, but everything else is garbage.

Yeah i have been skating jugs for the last year and really enjoyed them i just hate the massive tongues. i would be keen on trusts but they dont come in a 13. i have some killa bees liner in a 12 which i have been thinking about doing some make shift work to make them a bit bigger to fit my foot, they were free so if i destroy them i'm not to fussed.

but i enjoi your skates

Dude, the blockz are glued in with Cyanacrylat. They will never come loose again. My left middle finger is still glued to my right thumb from putting the blocks into the frames... ;)

They look like a 'T' with a rather thick stem from the front and like a aquare with the 1/4th of a wheel cut out from the side.

I made them from Polypropylene (sp?) with mah bare handz and teeth... :cool:

i skated that shell, eve3n though i usually skate size 11. but the sizing on ufs thrones sucks, the shell is 11-13 and i just couldn't fit into smaller skates.

Jep, exactly... :)

I used used wheels, so the grinding wasn't that big of a deal. I had a similar set-up a few years ago where I relocated the UFS bolts so they aren't above the 'middle' wheels anymore. I didn't want to do this with the Xsjados and had to make the inner wheels a little smaller than I actually wanted to still be able to place them under the UFS screws. There is a 2mm gap between the surface of the wheel and the frame screw now.

That's very little space and I hope this doesn't fuck me up bad whilst landing a gap... :lol:

Here's a pic of the a pair of frames I did this to a few years back. Can't find a pic of the setup with blocks attached, but you can tell from the pic that I was able to fit in much larger wheels because of the relocation of the UFS screws. I placed them so I could reach them with an allen key through the gap between wheel 1+ 2 and 3 + 4... :cool:

About the Roces mod, you relocated the frame bolts outwards? How long is that frame? Are there a place who sells 290mm Roces frames separately?

i skated that shell, eve3n though i usually skate size 11. but the sizing on ufs thrones sucks, the shell is 11-13 and i just couldn't fit into smaller skates.

yeah the sizing is weird. i love classics but they're to narrow for my feet, but for some reason UFS thrones fit. i don't get it.
but UFS thrones are the best skates for my liking. firstly they look decent in big sizes, i don't have to cut up shells, and they ain't to heavy. i just want black souls, black slimlines and a full setup of 56mm 90a wheels, and maybe some generic abec 9's.

if i could get all this i'd be happy..... as long as it was under $100, but that ain't gunna happen so i'll thrash this one for the moment

Yeah it surprised me too, but actually, the 11-13 shell of UFS Throne are larger than Classics, which is the opposite case of every other shell size.

Exactly. Other than that, I corrected the frame placement, too. Just pushed them a little farther to the peak of the skate.

This is a Senate Kevin Gillan UFS frame and has a wheelbase of 270mm. And I have two untouched sets of them left, if you're interested... ;)

my mates ex brought them for him and he never used them they were sitting in the boot of his car for months so he gave them to me when i got my cult shiftys, i really like them which is why i put them in the TRS, nut looking at the link monday posted can get 'em pretty cheap on ebay

rob, you don't really wear out frames, as I have seen from your skate/frame sale post. i have been skating the same pair of flt's for a year now, skating mostly ledges. I don't skate more then once a week on average, and now my frames are really worn out over the horizontal line of the h block going up almost to the top of the frame.

Those frames have all only seen a few street sessions. I've never been able to make any frame last longer than 2 months street skating since I was 17 unless i rotated (like I do now) between multiple pairs. I also skate some horrible ledges too, so that might contribute to the problem. BTW, mad props to the dudes that skate 56mm or bigger flat and can still do h block tricks. holy shit.
