Not grinding JUST yet, but I'll switch em up.
i tried those frames. weird cause of the weight
Yea and they are pretty stiff, but I'd imagine more stable at higher speeds than regular antis or freestyles.

They skate good. I wanted to achieve a more solid skate feeling over cracks and rough pavement and it works fine. Grinding is okay. No wheel bite at all, feels like an antirocker frame when when grinding.
They aren't set up flat, the wheels in the middle are 50 mm, the one on the outside are 58 mm.
The blocks are made of solid UHMW. That's the only thing I'd like to change. Perfect on ledges but a little slow on metal.
Just in case someone didn't see the og pic:

I'mma have to get all of my Fiziks stuff together and post a photo or two. I have 6 frame shells and enough parts to make 4 full pairs minus axles.
I made 3 complete sets (12 total) of white UHMW hitchhikers yesterday, now I need to get 3 sets of axles (24 total) from a local fastener distribution company.
I made 3 complete sets (12 total) of white UHMW hitchhikers yesterday, now I need to get 3 sets of axles (24 total) from a local fastener distribution company.
How do you make them? fix them to the hblock?
fast eddie
23.05.2011, 11:18
No, they are screwed into the 2nd and 3rd rocker arms.
By Robert1:
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4027/4698271644_2bd2c0e4a2_b.jpg
Remove inner wheels
Use 1/2" (or 3/4" if you want to trim them back down a bit) UH stock.
Cut to width of inside of frame (fits between frame walls but still sits on top of rocker arm)
Cut length so it overhangs into the wheelwell a bit (3/8" or so)
Hold block in place, go in from top with pointed object (awl, scribe, etc), and mark the edge of the wheelwell on the bottom of the block (it'll be a U shape)
Trim to this line with bench grinder
Mark, drill, countersink block for your two mounting holes for 3/8" long #6 or #4 sheetmetal screw. You want the screw to go into the meatiest part of the rocker arm, between the pivot pin and the wheelwell.
Place block in place on frame, use awl/scribe to mark holes.
Remove block, pre-drill holes with small (1/16" or smaller) bit
Mount block by hand, do not overtighten and thus strip out hole
Repeat process X3
Use bench grinder to match inner exposed edge of block to the groove. Remember you want the blocks to "guard" the inner wheels, so do not flatten the groove out too much.
Skate ledge to break in.
Mail me a dollar.
I used four UHMW blocks that Fiziks sold for anti rocker purposes. I got 3 hitchhikers out of each block, then had to use a jig saw to deepen the groove.
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4073/4754843275_99b221c56b.jpg
You may be able to get some more from Freddy White (http://www.be-mag.com/msgboard/member.php/14043-Freddy-White), he was selling them 6 months ago.
Wow, thank you i have just ordered some black UHMW.

23.05.2011, 11:52
Just a little closer to the h-block and further away from the inner frame walls. Like, 1mm down and over. You need to make sure that when you countersink the holes, the bit doesn't get too close to the edge of the UHMW.
I'll post a photo tonight. They are a little rough and angular because I haven't sanded down the corners yet.

zacharias
04.06.2011, 23:58
I skated mine for about 4 months before heat molding...wish i would of heat molded em sooner. It makes em feel way more like part of your foot when you do so. I put mine in the oven 185f for 20 minutes with souls and cuffs on, tied and strapped them as tight as possible and stood in them untill cool, repeated one time immediately after that.

I did mean to order medium frames. The smalls do actually feel pretty small on landings and stuff. BUT I did jut come off of some RB Solo Estilos with 72MM wheels. I think it's just gonna take some getting used too. I've skated my skates about 4 times and haven't had any issues with the wheels so far, I'm pretty skinny though, I never have issues with wheels.

well B. Rose they do not sell the UK version of the Fatty Pro in the United States. and the K2 Rep I talked to said they have no intention of selling them here in the states. maybe in 2012. so I cant exactly drive down to the local skate shop and look at them in person, nor can I find a UK site to order them online
does that make much sense to you?
well B. Rose they do not sell the UK version of the Fatty Pro in the United States. and the K2 Rep I talked to said they have no intention of selling them here in the states. maybe in 2012. so I cant exactly drive down to the local skate shop and look at them in person, nor can I find a UK site to order them online
does that make much sense to you?
well not exactly UK site, but they do have them in stock:

Second set of souls, straps, frames and wheels on this skate.
Heat molded them about a month ago...wish I woulda done when i first got them. Just hardened the toe area because I destroy it way to much, wish they would start making it with a little more durable, firmer material.
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE so sick
Will heat mold asap...
I mean... soon.
Srsly, this is a sick, sick setup. And truth about the material around the toes!

On hardening the toes: There are certain products that are made to harden leather and the toes of hiking boots as well as make them water resistant. Most of those products work with somewhat porous materials. The carbon skin material seems to have a "seal" on it and Im not sure how well those products would work with the carbon, maybe if it was scuffed up. So what I did was just use a layer of super glue on the area I scuff and bash the most. It has made it much firmer from just pushing it with my fingers. I have yet to skate them with it so time will tell.
On heat molding: 180 F for 20 mins...complete skate except frame and wheels, Pulled out, tied, strapped and buckled as tight as possible, stood untill cooled, Repeated once.
PS heat mold, before toe hardening...most super glues do not like heat.

How are those Salomon wheels, zacharias? :)
last night was my first time riding them...balls were hauled, I dont know if it was becasue the fresh bearings, wheels, and/or Fiziks.
I think Hyper made Salo wheels? I know I've had two sets of the hyper wheels that come stock on the UFS M12's and those lasted me a while...I pretty much think all wheels suck, though. I dont know what the big deal is about wheels. I ride flat, they are all gonna last longer and not get stressed as a freestyle/anti setup. They all have a life span, they are gonna crack, chunk, decore, explode, get flat spots, etc. deal with it. When they come out with a wheel that doesn't do any of that and is a 100 dollars per wheel we'll all cry that they are too expensive. Its a damn wheel, earliest invention of man...it's round, goes in a circle, and better grip the surface of whatever it's rolling on when you need it to.
Yup, the Hypers that cam on the M12 were awesome. I still have a few sets of them.
If you really think wheels are all the same I encourage you to try the new STAR and US wheels as well as the new M1.

all the stock salo wheels i got have well exceeded my expectations for stock wheels, two of my sets i skated for a couple months and they still got tons of life left, plus the bearings that came with salomons were pretty balling (at least on the earlier pro models)

black is so much better than white :(
White is so much more fun to skate in... I just wouldn't want to put up with everything that's necessary to preserve this white all the time... ;)
In fact, I wouldn't even skate the grey Kelsos because I can't stand it when there's dirt/mud/scratches on my skates. With black skates they're still there but I can't see them as much... ;)

They feel a little tighter around the heel area- I'm reasonably sure the carbon has been slimmed down. Made them feel a lot nicer. Padding also feels thicker, but that's probably just the newness. As for length, they feel a little longer. They also feel a lot more rigid than my black ones.
Put black laces on that black setup and it will look bonkers.

That only covers the carbon fiber boot itself.
the joke is the carbon will never be an issue (unless its a factory issue)... just everything attached to it...
possibly the best fitting skate i've ever had...but still USD quality... meaning much left to be desired...
already ripped the toe... gotta shoe goo that shit up once its clean.
already sewed up the straps... ripped the velcro off on the third day...
my xsjado straps were ok... so why are the carbon 2 ones shitty? xsjados were $100 and the carbon 2 were $500...
not been long and the cuff is almost fucked.. like why is that area hollow and not solid?
if you wanna be cheap asses, leave it flat so i can screw some breadboard on there. actually that aint a bad idea... will experiment...
IMO technology went up... quality didn't.
having said that though.... they got me... dont think i'll change boot again.. ride these till they'er dead and buy the next carbon model usd release...
i love the way they skate.. im doing more tricks than i was before.
trying new shit all the time.
trick vocab has gone BOOM! since i got the skates.
BUT they are fucking fragile... not bomb proof like skates used to be.
a few missed topsides on a concrete ramp mixed with a few failed back royales and you will go through the stitching holding that front piece of leather on.. then it will go all floppy on yo ass... time for the shoe goo...
$500 skates-----> $50 skates real quick... 1 week if you're not careful...
but i still love em... fuck.

Yea I got a few busted stitches, covered that shit with duct tape. A lot of falling on concrete quarters recently. Holds surprisingly well, just re-tape once it's worn a bit. Oh and hockey laces ftw on these.
http://f.cl.ly/items/3K1F3G3u1P432444193g/photo.JPG
Straps on the white ones were horrid. They changed the way they produce these recently. Much better now. The toe cap is definitely a problem. A material with more wear resistance would be great. More blue stuff on the cuff boltz. Soulplates made of material of the Classic Throne souls. Can't think of anything else right now...

I bought these for real cheap, wore out the original frames/soul plates. Decided to try to make them look a little better, so I threw some white parts, double drilled the lace holes and, and this is the result. I like how they skate, compared to some other options. I still prefer xsjados, but I thought I'd try something different. Riding the stock frames/big 72mm wheels was amazing, until the anti-rocker bolts started rubbing, and slowing downd grinds remarkably. Oh, the new soul broke the 2nd trick... the front two screws broke through, but they're still holding on!

The small size soles only fit the larger size well, on the smaller end of the spectrum they look big and stupid and stick out around the edges too much.

trim it up!
or do more cess slides and wear it away...
my toe overhangs the Lsize soul plate.
plus im using small frames on a size US10 skate so my wheel doesn't stick out as far as yours!
BTW are those the original straps?
don't think so...
not broken anything

I dont use the original straps at all. My ankles just dont agree with their fixed positioning. The wrap around heel straps however, can be adjusted individually to get the right feel for each foot.
my carbon 2 are size 9 and got some size 10/11 soul plate on them....
