Got my Valo Lights today and iam happy that they fit so well!!
For everyone who was a 8 in the old ones - you can go easy with the small shell now!
The Liner seems not that much bigger, but the neoprene on it and the new room you find in the shell make the difference, the Liner is also very much improved and got also a better liner with a better shockpad!

Lovely, was gonna do this if I went for SL's a few months back. Grey laces give them a bit of Champion Throne swagger. Nice one man.
I'm disturbed you gave up your Carbon 2's for these... but they sure look good! :)
carbon2 is a awesome skate ...but not very durable , and fuckin expensive...

Why would switching to UFS Thrones change anything?
(Since you said "skinny ass legs", I assume you're talking about how tight you have to have the cuffs?)

UFS thrones feel stiffer to me, so I can loosen the cuffs a little.

Why make those UFS? Aside from the bolts that stick out, those were some of the best frames on the market then. If there were a UFS version of that, I would be skating it without question.

Also have a project going on where I am trying to revive the skates I have sitting around and these were the first victim.
http://i51.tinypic.com/k2my36.jpg
The goal is full setups. Will be working on rainy days and whatnot, hopefully I will have a specific list of hardware to pick up from Shop Task next week to complete everything. Off the top of my head, I think there is 9 pairs in my apartment that need to be set up... maybe 9.5 lol, no idea how these accumulate.

They were amazing. Get them hooked up with the pink rockers and the gap was even bigger. Even with the pro/speedster frames, I could skate a 67 flat fine, even pulled off a 72mm flat and could still royale, shit was nuts. Rollerblade had their shit together for a while.

Well last night was a success, I took them for a test run. It felt all so right. The large size plates protected the boot very well. A lot of times when I fall I usually run the front of my boot into something or the back. It was a very smooth fast ride. The frames lined up very well with the grove. Now I just actually gotta form a proper one. I like the bulk look to them. They feel very solid and tough. With the old plates it just didn't feel tough. It's like a mix of a hard boot with the flex of a soft now. Since when I really hit a ledge I can feel the mass of impact. Don't forget this setup is still lighter then valo lights though!:-P

Hitchhiker deals are teh bestest there is! But apparently they are not fast enough to skate bowls. At least not with the fucked up wheels I skate in there atm. And because I'd rather finish the wheels then put new ones every 5 sessions I opted for another frame just for le bowls.

i would guess because the cuff is screwed on over the skin and will bind.
the front of the cuff is is touching the skin and will limit or completely stop forward flex.

I need to remove the black plastic pieces where the upper straps go on the boot, cut the awkward part of the toe cap to a contour to curve towards the backslide area, get black USD Carbon soul plates and black Fiziks (I have a good lead already), and these will be done :D

No, there is not a gap between the toe cap and white soul plate near the backslide and fastslide areas, that's just weird shadowing. The bottom of the boot is flush.
And yes, the external cuff is necessary. When wearing them with no cuffs, they make your ankles bow inward. The external cuffs correct this.
I think these will be my new setup for next spring, my 250ccs still have lots of life left in them.

I might use the VII souls, but they appear to be too wide for me. I'd still have to sand down the rear section for the K2 heel to be fastened to.
I really like the Carbon souls, they are just fine for my skating. I never do negatives because of my frames and the hardware that sticks out on that side, and I don't do cess slides, either.

I don't exactly understand what you mean, but I don't know how they feel without the pieces that need to be removed as I haven't done it yet. With the buckle closed, they are have terrible pressure points where the cuff is pushing the pieces into your ankle. I couldn't roll around with the buckles closed.
But that's why I need to remove them. I know they will be fine once I do, but I've already dismantled the setup and put the King 55s back into their storage container. It was only one skate that I had set up that way.

Picked up some goodies, also bought AB skins new from TheMgoods to customize my Lights.

Here is one skate redone with each skin. All black souls, CO frames. The Street Artist wheels will wait until the Haffey's are toast

Cant decide which I like better but I am actually leaning towards the JJ skin. Oh well I can switch it up whenever I want.

Now you only need to make your girlfriend buy you a pair of fresh-ass Jordan's.
White ones would look better with black frames. Other than that I enjoy them pics... Oh, and yah... you'll shit brickz once you try out the Bambrick wheel...
Question is how long the lights will be able to take you switching out the skins... That means removing the soul frame and that means stress to the little female parts that hold the screws to the carbon... ;)

Please tell me those arent size 8/9 ab skins. I hesitated on buyin a pair last week, went to purchase them last night and bam only size 6/7 left....I hope they plan on making more or atleast other skins... Are you having any problems with your soulplate receptors in the boots?

This!!^^^ I am talking to my carbon guy to see if I can get these replicated in all cf but with kevlar reinforcemet in the footbed to "lock in" these receptors only problem would be if they strip or a bolt breaks off in em..
what is wrong with the plates not snapping right together on the white ab?

Ive found its not the soul plates but the shells... the receptors arent spaced properly and the boot is a bit too long for them to seat correctly.. im sure on the m12 boot they fit perfect..

I might use the VII souls, but they appear to be too wide for me. I'd still have to sand down the rear section for the K2 heel to be fastened to.
If you're talking about width of the actual soul plate the difference is barely anything. I just switched to the VII souls on a pair of carbons and size wise they're almost exactly the same, just come up around the boot a bit more where the backslide is which, IMO, is a good thing.

Based on these comparison pictures of the Carbon and VII plates made for a size 10 US, I'll pass.

I really like the backslide area on the Carbon plates, and re-working the VII souls would be too much of a pain in the ass with the scarce resources I have to sand them down in the places I need sanded down.

It takes 10 minutes really. Some of the receptors spin, I am actually gonna get some epoxy and put a dab of it on the receptor to prevent this.

Yep 8/9 skins on 8/9 JJ's. a couple of them spun but I just hold them with pliers and all is well.

You can actually size down when going to the VII souls in a pair of carbons, not sure how it would work for K2's. I'm skating mediums on my size 10's with no sanding or dremeling necessary. If you like the Carbon backslide plate as is there's really no need to change either way though as that seems like the only major difference between the two.

I'll try and take some pics tomorrow. I just went by length when I ordered, they're both 11 1/8" long. I figured I would have to do some sanding to get them to fit but ended up not needing to though it's a pretty tight fit.

They fit pretty much as good as the stock ones do. There's a tiny gap towards the toe but you can't even see it when you look down at your feet. I've only skated them twice but they feel like the older carbon souls, just with a (IMO) better backslide groove. I'm loving them so far.
Edit: As far as speed goes I can't really tell a difference, though I skated a pair of SL's for a few months before going back to Carbon's so my memory might be a little off.

Those white AB's with the black cuff and black 2pc Valo souls...
If they had black frames they'd be so beautiful.

I have a question about this:
I am getting US8 Carbon 2 and looking at the VII souls, i dont like the overhang it appears to have with "correct size" VII soul plates!
If I downsize the souls with there be any issue with the frame mounting holes?
And with the downsize, does it affect the feel of the skate on your foot, i.e. pushing/pressing/digging?(all round any pain or discomfort)
Please get back to me asap, i am buying stuff as we speak, lol

Frame mounting holes are all universal, so they'll line up no matter what. i have no pushing to speak of but we wear different sizes so I'm not completely sure on yours. Worst comes to worst all you would have to do is sand down a little bit on the souls to get them to fit so it's a pretty easy fix. i don't think you'll have to do that though to tell you the truth.

Ordered size small plates my my size 7 Carbon 1s.
AMall said the plates ate 10 5/8" long. My boots measure 10 3/4" long.
So they should fit pretty tight on there.
