Oh no, I traded up to carbons. Xsjados didn't do it for me and switch_bcn was kind enough to find someone who felt the same about their Kelsos. They skate amazing, I feel much more confident in my motions now.

New core on those uc pro, they roll faster!!

Special ED
15.12.2011, 19:52
They are pretty fast. I had the wellsmores, but the centre of the core was .001 mm too thin and the bearings would shift ever so slightly. Seemed to come up on a lot of park compounds in the shop, so I went with the howards. I originally wanted them anyway. I think I am getting Soichiro GCs next week to spare my 5050s for summer, should look good.

Changed them up. They were setup with what I had already put together. So I swapped in some black buckles that came on some thrones, black laces(deshi haha) and straps from my CH1s, grey cuff bolts, and Kelso COs. Upon further inspection, I realized that while still warped, they were not nearly as warped as my grey COs. So I am fine with that for now.

thanks guys....really loving the way they look and will skate them tommorow with the freestyles for the first time. Realy like the way they turned out, i haven't seen anyone rock them this way, but im sure there has been. took better pics without the "effect" which i only used because my cell phone has a shitty camera. will post later.

To avoid crack slowing you down ......wont shaving some of the lower part of the frame with a dremel solve that.....

note: rollerwarehouse and amall told me they hold up to 58 mm wheel. i just put in brand new m1 59mm dual duro on they fit with more than enough room....60 lomax wheels will deff fit. with liitle help from mr dremel...

Both those Nimh setups are so sick, minus the frame setups and liners I have had those same boot setups at one time or another. You should try get your hands on a set of the white cuffs for the V2's.

I'm interested in how they skate with the Remz straps instead of the buckles, I'm sure I've got a set lying around somewhere so I may give it a shot sometime.

MattyNairn

I've got some white cuffs, but they don't look right on the white skins for some odd reason. tbh, the only reason I put the remz straps on was because I was catching my shins on the buckle receptor when i did pornstars. Otherwise it might give you a bit more forward flex, but I havn't noticed anything else.

Sick Oli Shorts btw, I had a very similar setup on here if you go back a few pages.

I think they look fine with white cuffs, well mine and my friends pair both did. Might just stick with the buckles then, I've got no problem with the forward flex and I also like my skates tight. Laces done all the way up and buckles tight as hell is perfect for me so the straps probably wouldn't be a good idea.

Thanks dude, glad I finally managed to get a pair and for so cheap!

How are the Denial Wojdas compared to the STARs?

The frames, liners, and wheels on the whites are all new, so i havn't skated the STARs yet. The denial wheels are wierd because i thought they were going to skate like M1's being 93a, but they grip really well, as i've been skating park mostly since i got them, must be the round profile of them. I got the STARs because they were white and matched that setup, haha, they are the same as UC so i don't hold much hope for them, cheap though.

I found the Montres on ThisIsSoul for around 90quid, was going to get them but they sold out of the size 6's before I could. All the shops in the UK are a bit overpriced compared to the euro shops. Where you getting yours from?

Yeah I saw that too, was gonna get them but like you said they sold out of the 6's. I'll be getting my grey Montre's from Loco as £189 for a full setup with CO's and 8 wheels is more than reasonable IMO. I probably won't even use the wheels though because they're too small plus I have a set of brand new UC's still, but 16 bearings will always come in handy. When the boot only price of the first Montre's comes down some more I'll probably grab a pair.

K2's used to fit true to size, but it seems that they actually run a half size bigger.

For example, my decade old 250ccs and King 55s are an 11 US and they fit snug, but good.

My 2009 Fatty Pro's and Varsity's are/were also 11 US, but they feel/felt a bit too big. About a half size too big.

I sprayed all of the non-white areas with a rubber truck bed liner. The skates were sitting in some dudes shed in Arizona for over 10 years, certain parts of the skates started to deteriorate. The truck bed liner worked wonders and is super resistant to abrasion.

I taped everything off with masking tape, but some seeped through. Kinda pissed because I can't get the stuff off where it isn't supposed to be, but these things skate beautifully. The King 55s really needed cuffs, if you weigh more than, say, 170 lbs. These are actually pretty heavy skates. But I don't notice it.

I switched the instep strap on the left skate after this bottom photo, hurpaderp.

Nice dude. I've been thinking of using something like that spray on my Carbon skins in weak areas.
I was thinking the stuff that you dip tool handles into.
But the spray sounds way more practical. Can't believe I didn't think of it!

dude, I don`t agree at all. yeah the back part maybe the same material yet the front plate is way different. I wore down the two piece in half year. With the classic one - I didn`t change the soulplates at all until I got new skate. The problem with the two piece is that you are grinding with your whole soulplate surface, with the classic one the soul wings stick enough so you slide only on them - it`s so much faster

Yeah cause doing royales on frames that tall are gonna feel sick. Right. Genius even.

How is some regular frames like 50/50s, 55mm flat, with swiss bearings gonna be any fucking slower than your retarded set up without sacrificing your ability to grind? And it'll be noticeably lighter also. How much did that cost you? Nearly 200 dollars I bet and thats not even including the actual boots.

That is retarded man.

powerblading fine... I understand. Skating around town hauling ass and doing stair rolls and skictchimg is great. I thought it was to step away from the grinding aspect not put h blocks so you can make doing royales fucking impossible on frames CLEARLY not designed for boot tricks. You and every other trend hopper is spitting on the last 15 years of rollerblading progression with that shit.

Lol about if I've never "rec" before I won't understand "us".

So you guys are THE powerbladers now?

Anyway I don't need to TRY pb frames or whatever they are called because I've been skating flat for a long fucking time and I never shove that shit in anyone's face and I fucking HAUL ASS. Jesus I'm not even trying to bring age into this but if you are 30 years old don't even try the old sage routine cause wisdom is obviously not on your side if your drilling ground control 1 h-blocks (2001 technology) into "power blade" frames (1994 technology) and telling me how cool it is.

Look at fucking Tim Adams for example. LOOK AT HIM. Look at what his skating is all about. He's been powerblading since before powerblading was invented with normal frames and wheels flat set up.

It's not hate man that Hblock shit is just stupid. You should just skip 70mm altogether and try to grind with bicycle tires.

Wow, those are super fresh! Even the black rubber and straps aren't all fucked up or deteriorating, and the tongues! But I'm all set on skates, and would never pay that much for King 55s. I got mine for $30, and had to tear them down and mod the shit out of them.

I don't think I could be bothered to do it again, and I take it pretty easy on my skates so they last a long time.

The heads are way smaller. If I can't find more, I'll have to get them machined and that's not cheap :( I mean, I have some extras, but not enough to put together a new pair, and I have enough walls and parts to put together another pair if I could get my hands on some axles.

Those things suck. The tool holes are about a tenth of a millimeter deep, so they strip very easily; and the threads are super shallow, so they strip extremely easily as well.

Filing/lathing/grinding down some 6mm GC axles is more work, but you'll have solid axles that won't strip.

Now that I think about it though, you're gonna want to doublecheck that the GC axles aren't too long to tighten down properly in Fiziks. You may be able to get away with filing them down a little if they are.

so, I reckon that Al was the one to raise the cuff pads that much. have new holes been drilled? what's the advantage of it? extra support would be, of course, my guess

That's just how they are stock, which kinda sucks. The spacing on the t-nuts on the cuff pad is too spread out, so you kinda have to choose between ski-high or super-lowrider. Up makes the skate feel bendier/flexier, and down makes them feel stiffer/more like a hardboot cuff. Chris has always had them up, so that's how we set them up. I did down on my last skates and it made the cuffs feel way too hard/the edges dig in for me, but that might be because I have a plate in my ankle, which probably makes me more sensitive to it than many.

what the hell?! is this the case just with the JC xsjado's? have you also put the straps higher? I can see the two holes below the strap in which the srcews would usually go

I've wanted to try some powerblades for some time now but I didn't feel like spending that lot of a money on a frame setup. I might just gonna buy the frames and get some other, cheaper freeskate wheels. But for the time being, I decided to create something powerbladish from the parts I have. I removed the riveted frames from some old Roces Streets, that I got only for the wheels. I removed its back part where the brakes (!!!) should be intalled, as with those they looked really gay. I did some grinding and fixed that frame onto my classic thrones with some screws. I know I could have simply left the frame on the Roces. I decided to do all this work for two reasons. First is, I'm inbetween sizes in Roces, so the 8-9 boot is too small, while the 10-10,5 is just huge. My other reason is that without souls the M12 boots look gay as they were used for a lot rec skates and even ice skates. So, then I put on some non-UFS tumor plates for the looks and for those occasional makios and fishes. Finally, I put in my 72mm-ish Rollerblade wheels. I'm gonna buy some blue 80mm Powerslide wheels to finish my setup. Here's what they look like:

All the recent Conference Xsjados I've seen have been like this, unfortunately.

The picture is a little misleading... the pads are kinda shoved all the way up by the shoes. When the skates are on they'd sit a little lower.

I remove the additional screws (that you can see the hole for) because they ruin the action of the cuff/padding/strap system. It's supposed to have a bit of float when you flex forwards, and those screws inhibit that.
