So I had mentioned a couple of days ago I had something old to share.
I was greeted with a box arriving at work last Monday.

When I opened the box these things were newer than I thought. They still have the tags on.

The only legitimate way to skate '62 Impalas is doing 1080s on a massive vert ramp.
720 mctwists without a helmet :)
you're both wrong.
since this impala has a yellow cuff, the only legitimate trick would be a 10 foot high late backflip with a low flying seagull in the shot...

I Bought 1 set of Fr's in the 90's and they were balls.... slow as fuck. No idea what they were but were so slow.

Be curious to see how these blue Force 3 hold up. I will agree with you they aren't what they used to be one of them doesn't actually spin 'round' like the hub is off by a mil. Right now I dropped em out and put hole cores in.

NO they were a skateboard wheel maker who made cash on the side making roller wheels when rollerblading was big.
They made a batch or large order of rollerblade wheels at once....
I think they still make skateboarding wheels under the name cortech...

Be VERY careful doing this, your placing extra loading in a part of the shell where the plastic is at it's thinnest. You want to use/make adapters that fill in the original boot grooves fully so that load will spread out over a wider area.
Make shims rather than bending the plastic of the boot (I had a few boots crack/break)
my new plan of action is to use the kizer dimond souls i have just orderd to make a ufs convershion kit that goes over the original heel and toe but leves the backside area open sort of like a old soloman soul but im not going to cut them in to the boot il just put them on top like soul wings
jonnydrama
07.03.2012, 08:15
The toe really needs to be filled in man otherwise you're unneccessarily stressing the plastic on the base of the skate, the last thing I want to see if your OG skates broken within a few months.

Went out to the park last night with these. Fun is all that comes to mind. The frames slide very well, the bottom 1/3 part of the frame is the only part that contacts. The souls are very solid feeling and quick. I put a touch of wax on a sticky ledge, and I zoomed across it without much effort. Went back with full speed and pulled a teleport to the end of the ledge. I am very impressed with this model. This is all I could ask for in a blade. Sure to many they might look like shit. Though I think now more then anything the most important part is having fun while on your blades. For once I didn't care about the look of a blade. Now I actually really like the look after one session. I know what they are capable of with so flex and control in all the right spots. Salomon boot fit, with proper forward flex with the new cuff. Flex in all the right spots if you ask me. Rollerblade has produced a solid product.

I don't need to worry about tearing through the skin to expose the carbon shell. Also don't need to worry about ankle strap metal connector bending or coming loose like on my carbons. Maybe just my bad luck with my carbons. I also like the fact that I can change out the liner. Once that padding in the carbons wears down you are left with either a mod or stack up on socks. I also like the weight, nice balance with them. The problem I have with the carbons is control. I'm not a very heavy person, I got a good vertical jump. I tend to skate fast and jump high. So I end up not landing where I want. The weight gives me more control across the board. It feels snug just like my ST80's were on my feet. The souls are like butter, and the carbon plates don't feel solid enough.

I don't know anything about the sizes suiting the OG skates, but I have US size 6-7 black front plates and US size 12-13 grey heel plates. I used to have a ton of Remz front and heel plates, in a bunch of different sizes. I don't know what happened to them. My basement flooded last year and the cleaning crew possibly tossed them out.
The plates I do have are brand new, never mounted, enough for one pair of skates.

Yeah, having gone from deshi carbs to the first two models of usd carbs and now being back on a brand new pair of deshis makes me completely dissatisfied with how badly I wasted my money on the usd carbon 1 & 2. IMO deshi got it right. USD definitely got lost somewhere along the way, though the cuff idea was clutch for support in the long term.

Did you have to mod the frame to use those longboard wheels? I thought longboard wheels would be wider than inline wheels.
Didn't have to mod the frame, but found the wheels to be a lot less hard than I thought. They didn't exactly slide on coping. They weren't the wide kind. I guess some dude gave them to a friend of mine years ago, when longoboarders were trying out inline wheels. They are just a slightly harder compound inline wheel. I'll probably skate them on the outside.

did you sand the original k2 soul flush or just slap the plates on there.
I cut toe part of original soul off, and had to grind down the back part of carbon soul for k2 heel to fit flush.

Dem Il Capo's are fucking sick, if I ever find a pair for under $100 I'm getting them.
be forwarned that the stock strap/buckle really really sucks (as i expected but hoped it wouldn't). it twists around and pretty much offers way to much forward flex. i'm going to drill out the rivets and put orange shaman buckles on them this weekend just for some kind of stability

i would have kept the stock souls for added boot protection especially since the odds of K2 making any more aggressive skates are slim. i personally am going to try to prolong the life of the ones i have for as long as possible.

Wow, for the first time in 15 years, I've cracked a K2 cuff. Right down the back, just above my Achellie's tendon, about 4 inches of cuff.
Looks like I'm going back to my red Varsity's. Just put wheels into my white & red Fiziks last night, and tested them out in my driveway. Felt like I was falling backwards after having such a huge heel raise with my 250cc mod.
Waiting for some GC freestyle frames to arrive, things are going to get interesting this weekend :D

That's why you need to make that carbon fiber heel cup! Get used to a really low to the ground feel.
Or just take a power planer to the K2 heel cup and make it thinner.

Should have gotten new wheels, too. Otherwise nice. I still remember seing them for the first time on a back cover of a Be-Mag issue at a random skatepark I came across accidentally while in the area for a training course for my work. Best looking UFS Throne after the Zamora and the Petty.

Thanks! I agree with the wheels. I've been reviving most of our skates lately and wheels are hard to come by. As you can see I'm scraping the bottom of the barrel with these. My main skates are the TRS Morales that are a couple pages or so back. I just bought 8 new Eulogys for them.
These were traded to us somewhere along the way with one stock Rachard cuff and one Petty cuff. I still have the original groove plate from the 3 piece souls but they're worn through.
Trying to do the best with what I have.....it's tough.

Size 6-7 shell, size 9 trust spec ops liner = pure excellence, the only bother with these liners is having to position the insole nicely. The liner fills the boot out great, would definitely recommend. great fit

Should've waxed the hell out of it. Get smaller wheels as well. When I was younger there was no such concern of wheel bite. When I went to buy a new pair of skates after not grinderblading for 7 years I saw all these crazy options for anti rocker, tri rocker, Kaltik flat, freestyle, etc and it was then my mind was poisoned by the thought of wheel bite. I worry about that shit constantly. Went to anti after falling from a belly button high ledge, hated the lack of steeze while just rolling and am back to flat. If Mathieu Heinemann can destroy death ledges with a GC featherlite flat setup no one is allowed to complain.
