View Full Version : First time with Valo Frames. Rollin' on 60's flat.
Awesome setup. Highly recommend it. If you can score yourself a box of Face Wheels then you're in for the ultimate performing budget setup that fits 60mm wheels flat. The frames are ridiculously solid, the groove is nice and they slide smooth and buttery. I could actually do farvs! My farvs are terrible looking but I could do them! They look like they might wear a bit faster (which is fine for me I don't do a lot of ledges) and the weight is similar to fiziks... A bit heavier than the balance cores. Quality frame for a super cheap price if you want to try something different for flat. Just be ready for a weight difference but a super solid feeling.
Side note: Just came off of a 7 day skate trip. Skating sometimes twice a day. Used my Fiziks for the whole trip and I can attest to how much easier they are on the body than other frames. When I made the switch to the Valo frames my knees could really feel the strain. Fiziks are still my favorite frames by far. I want Fiziks II dammit. Anybody know how to easily switch shells without a 'jig'.

Lots of good design elements in the frame, like bracing between the wheel pairs and juiced sidewalls. You think 62s would fit in there flat?

That would probably be pushing it, unless you did some boot modifications.
I think it's very possible to fit 62's in them. Did Cozmo make 62's?

Tom Fry's first signature wheel. These ones are 82a, I have a set of 85a waiting in the vault.

Truth, I have been preaching these frames ever since I screwed em on. I do have a pair of 60mm Face wheels but they are on my stock k2 king 55 frames and plan to keep it that way....I need more Face!!!!

Jakeordie, I have a friend who rides 62s anti-rocker without modding at all. There is a chance you could fit them flat.

Damn - i love the old cozmo wheels - id kill for a pair of mini flys again.. and fiziks frames... sigh.
I might have to try these valo frames though - my Slimlines aren't really working for me with a flat set up.

amazing.
someday ill give this a try im sure.
and yes we need more fiziks!
ones where bolts dont rub and the frames dont wear out instantly!
and its super hard to do it without a jig.
ive always done it with out one.
you put in the bumper, then rocker then bottom bolt thing.
you should be able to push it up enought to fit a wheels in and bolt the axle on.
now just set it on the ground and put all your weight on it to slip in the last pin.
this is still very hard cause supposedly it takes 200 pounds to compress them all the way.
i weigh like 135 now.. i was doing this when i was 15 and like 120.... haha

I think 60mm is the wheelsize for the valos...
they are a bit heavy, but really good and solid frames!
No silly noises,good axles...
what a price

You can just use a chunk of wood for the jig. I don't see any other way being any easier.
Update:
These motherfuckers are heavier than I thought. The heaviest frames i've skated. However like i've stated before weight doesn't really matter. They make up for it in a smooth roll, solidity, awesome edges for topsides and cess slides and of course being able to rock 60's.
Also, if anyone cares stair rides feel really fucking good in these frames. I do a lot of stair rides and the solidity of the frame really does it's job. Maybe best frame for stair rides? In my skating world that counts for a lot.
Another note, also best cess slide frame. As a result, I've been pretending that i'm Dion Antony a lot in these frames. The tall bad styled Canadian version.
Going to skate these frames for a while and then put new black shells on my Fiziks for the fall. It's fun to switch up a setup because your skating goes in a different direction depending on the performance of the frame. I'm just excited about doing farvs and torques but I miss being able to do rally car slides and super sharp carves.

Hey is there any chance you can take a photo of your set up (well, the frames set up) Im interested in trying these out flat REALLY disappointed with Slimlines for flat - and im now skating them Anti (Which seems pointless for these frames?)
Be good to see how much the groove protects the wheels.
