i wear a size 10.5 shoe so went with the same for C2s and they felt great right out of the box. have previously worn size 11 valos aswell so id recomend getting the 10.5 carbons.

lol definitely agree about the insoles. my kelsos lasted maybe 2-3 rides before the print on the top was peeling off. judging by psyfrons review of the bambrick 3s the insoles are a little bit better...

im a size 10.5 in carbons and riding the large CO's. too scared/stingy to spend money on a smaller pair on the off chance its better. wtf is wrong with me lol

skates look cool and a good review. My SKs came with material on the bottom and the plastic protectors around the cuff bolts so guess you got a bit unlucky with your C2s.
