My mom wouldn't let me play it at walmart for a quarter because of the "blood code" and the "fineshes" or w/e but I loved the game and movie and of course we played the shit more.

Mortal Kombat is what made me obsessed with violent forms of media.

I worshipped those games growing up.

When it comes to premature video game violence to 84-86ers, Mortal Kombat (arcade) was it.

Fought my brother on Genesis/SNES billions of times and felt nothing.

It was nerve-rattling, exciting, and completely uncomfortable playing Mortal Kombat in the arcades.

God knows what happened to the die-hard MK fans born in '74.

Being born in the mid 80s excuses lots.

that is amazing. There should be a poll with this thread. What was the best MK? My vote would be 2. Reptile was a stud. Go invisible, gome over kids. Smoke was badass in 3 though. Man, they were all amazing.

I finished it with each character 6 or 7 times.
I bought the thing for 8 bucks from a discount shop.

Lui Kangs was the greatest character.
Mortal Kombat 2 was the best (not counting trilogy)

Lui was awesome because his fireball could let loose anywhere mk 2 and later. Crouching standing, midair. Barak was pretty studly too, his blade fury was awesome for jumpers. Man, I have to find those games. I have all 4 snes MKs somewhere in a box.

I played real-life Mortal Kombat once when I was tripping balls on Triple C's of all things. It was extremely entertaining.

i understand that, but people born in 74 would have been close to graduating college when MK came out. I dont remember any college kids hanging out in the local arcades with me and my 13 year old friends.

do you often think of how many dudes you could whack off at a time??

    mk2 was definitely the best
beat the first one with all the characters.
couldnt beat it on mk2 cause fuck shang tsung, that bitch was fucking hard!

i tried to get to fight noob saibot but every time i got to him the game would freeze up, i dont think i ever got to fight smoke on mk2

after mk3 they all just got too hard to play one player.
i beat the shit out of 3 with everybody on every difficulty setting

i had a game pro with all the specials and fatalities and whatnot, i would copy them down on little journal papers and sell them to kids at school for like a dollar... i made $2

ultimate mortal kombat 3 definitely had the best selection of characters and the coolest costumes i think but that shit was just wwaaaayy too fucking hard, i couldnt even get past jade
