I heard nobody wanted to front up the cash for what MS intended/wanted for a final product.

Besides what became of the fall through of the Halo movie was much better; District 9.
And I heard Spielberg took it as well. ^^^

They didn't think the juice would be worth the squeeze, the budget for a Halo movie was way too high and they didn't want to trust it in the hands of a rookie director (Neil Blomkamp, if you didn't know). It's a shame, I think he could have done such a great job with a Halo movie, the effects in District 9 were amazing, especially the mech scene that shit had me like

the whole time.
