If you look closer, I think you'll find all that changed is the focus of our industry & media. There are just as many if not more talented transition skaters now than ever, but they're out of the spotlight. They've become the circus freaks of our culture, where their only opportunity to skate like that is in demos and for novelty value in the eye of the public. The tranny killers didn't go away, their ramps were taken away.
The advantage Haffey Aragon Franky etc have is they proved themselves as core-industry sponsored "Real street" skaters first, making their transition skating more acceptable to The Industry and thus more actively promoted in the media. The catch is I've never seen a street skater evolve into a world-class "Real big transition" skater.....they usually start on vert and work their way out into park.
I would love to see just one event where these skaters are given the opportunity to really stretch the boundaries of what's possible on skates, but The Industry won't support it. They can't sponsor some obscure tranny killer to promote skate sales, and they can't promote an event where such a skater is gonna outshine their boyz. I understand why things are this way, but don't believe the talent isn't out there.
