Default Why do skateshops say they have stuff in stock?

but they really don't and send the products from the manufacturer per order.
This has happened to me through two different skateshops within the past six months and it's terrible. I ordered some cuffs last week (nov. 5) hoping UPS 3 day shipping would have it here today but it turns out they shipped from Cali yesterday.

I hate to bitch and moan, but what the fuck, if you don't have something in stock, don't pretend like you do.

Having worked at a shop, sometimes it happens when you have an online shop and walk-in shop. You could have one set of something left and it gets ordered online but before you realize it you sell it to a customer who just walked in. Sometimes shops are just wack though and do that shit purposely.

Rollerbladers are too lazy to take inventory and list items as pre-order only.

    It's always been that way.

Maybe they cant afford to fill a shop full of shit, if they list it as out-of-stock or on pre-order the chances of you taking your business elsewhere become higher.

Well, deceiving your customers isn't the answer. I'll never order from those shops again. I haven't skated in 3 weeks, and I wanted to get a few sessions in before this weekends comp.... not going to happen.

it's called drop shipping and allows the company to not have to spend as much money on overhead. considering the industry, i don't blame them.

Doesn't matter what shops. I'm not trying to take business away from anyone. It just irritates the hell out of me that this is the second time I've had this happen to me, when I'm trying to get my shit delivered as fast as possible.

To be honest, if you paid for 3day, and it didnt even SHIP till 3 business days later, id ask for a refund on my shipping at least.

Good e-commerce websites have their inventory linked to the what's shown on the site.

yeah they can. websites automatically keep track of inventory assuming the inventory amounts were entered correctly in the first place.

He's still getting the 3 day shipping service. It's three days from the day it's shipped, not from the time the order was placed. Of course, it should be the shop's responsibility to clarify when items are not in stock and might not be shipped immediately.

Yes...but then what happens if they sell a pair of skates online and 2 minutes later a person comes in to purchase them? When the inventory hits 0 on their website does an alarm go off in their store, "Skates sold! Skates sold! Inventory at 0!"

Yeah my favorite was when I ordered 4 things from revolution skateshop, the order went through saying all items were in stock, the order shipped and low and behold I get one item! Who the fuck would send 25% of an order without sending me an email prior to shipping? He could have made more money asking if I wanted substitutions... Well needless to say I'm not going back thereG
