I'm going to Ann Arbor this weekend. Any good parks or spots in the area? Anyone wanna meet up?
There aren't any parks in or directly around Ann Arbor. There are some great spots in AA but it's going to be about 35 degrees this weekend, and I'm going to assume that being from GA, you're not acclimated to skating in that type of weather. But if you want to try, hit me up and I can point you in the right direction.
Detroit is about a 45-minute drive from AA and we have indoor parks, and spots of course too. And I will probably have a session in my loft at some point this weekend.
You're not a pussy in regards to skating in the cold, or in coming to Detroit (i.e. Detroit being "scary")?
Um... Pussy when it comes to getting shot in Detroit. I already used one of my 9 lives 4 months ago getting lost in DC alone on foot at 1am after a nationals game for work. I had my laptop and was in a suit. Basically I shit my pants and no one wanted to shoot me because I smelled so bad.
Not a pussy to skating in freezing weather.
I know nothing about the area, but th park in grand rapids looks tight how far is that from AA?
2.5 - 3hrs depending on traffic and where in the cities you're coming from/going to.Originally Posted by Cochell
Well, when I said Detroit has parks, I meant "Metro Detroit", aka the suburbs. Modern is in Royal Oak and Landslide is out in Clinton Township. Which are both nice and white and safe and non-scary.
Street spots, we have all over- in the city and in the burbs.
My place is in Detroit's downtown area, which is far from suburban but you would be fine parking, walking into my building, skating, and walking back to your car afterwards.
The Modern park in Grand Rapids is about 2 hours' drive from AA. From AA to my place or to Modern is about 45 minutes, and from AA to Landslide is a little over an hour.
sunday.
a bunch of us and i can.
go to modern early in the day then oakland vert towards the night.
cause modern has a bike night sunday so you can only stay there till about 6.
Grand Rapids is on the other side of the state.Originally Posted by Cochell
There's a bunch of places in Ann Arbor if you're willing to drive around and look for them. I'm not sure how much of a bust actually skating on campus is though.
