Default attn: Gonzolo RE: Moderate hip pain

Usually I would go see a doc but I didn't pay my insurance this month because I am currently being fucked in the ass over a large sum of money. Enough about that.

I have had hip pains in my right hip for about 2 months now. At first it was slight then it got worse, So I took a few weeks off of skating and it felt 100%. The first day out skating I land on a grind kinda funny and BOOM fucking hip pain in full swing. It wasn't an impact injury, it felt like an over extension of sort. Then over next few days the pain got worse, I thought I might have reinjuried a hip sprain but this is a deeper pain, more like a joint pain I feel it in the socket and the femoral head area. It started as just a hip flexor and is much deeper now.

I hope that made some sense, please help. I miss skating a lot right now. make my pain go away

Rest until you can see a physician.

You said it started as a hip flexor? I suppose you mean a hip flexor strain.

So when you contract your hip flexors it hurts? Does it hurt when you stretch them?

The inflamed hip flexors might be compressing nerves, resulting the the "deeper" pain you mentioned.

I'd have a doc take a look at it, but in the mean time, rest rest rest. Take some anti-inflammatory meds if you aren't already.

No hip flexor pain while streching. But it started that way.

It pops all of the time. I think it may be displaced or something. idk

I seeee, so it sounds like it's subluxing, that may be the neurological aspect of it.

The reason I keep talking nerves is because that "deep" pain sounds neurological, not muscular.

When the pains FIRST started, was there some big fall that really tweaked your hip?

Have you ever had this instability at the hip before (the popping and such)?

it's somewhat normal to have hips that pop. mine do it all of the time.

When you say neurological, do you mean that it is all in my head. I would love that.

No it wasn't actually. I was jumping on something pretty high and it just started hurting. It has always popped, but now it is popping more than the healthy hip.

When I say neurological, I'm referring to Nerve pain, from compression.

So it sounds like you sprained one of your hip ligaments, and now it has some laxity.

Don't take everything I say as gospel, I'm not out of the physical therapist program just yet.

What will likely happen if/when you see a doc is you'll be referred to a Physical Therapy Clinic and they'll strengthen your surrounding hip muscles, to make up for the lost stability from the ligament injury.

    Goodluck! (so sarcasm intended)

a few years back I was standing in my friends drive way, my buddy was screaming down the road didn't see me when he turned into the driveway and ended up hitting me going 40 mph, no joke(when cops came they determined speed from tire marks in gravel). LUCKILY, when I was thrown/tumbled fifty fret through a fence that I broke with my face, I only ended up getting two actual injuries. First was a broken middle finger, and the second was my hips were thrown out of alignment. Well, needless to say I was one lucky mother fucker considering the drivers speed, but anyway yeah so the pain you have sounds like what I had, your hip appears to be misaligned. Pay your insurance and go to a physical therapist (well obv. a real doc first) & get that shit taken care of. Mine was pretty bad but I followed all the PT instructions, went for six months and did not skate once the entire time. Thanks to doing what I was supposed to I have 0 trouble from it now and feel great!

I caught a rail post with my right leg and yanked my hip sideways going pretty fast like almost 2 years ago and now that hip gets sore right where my torso and hip meet after alot of sitting or if I skate with out stretching.

I have no clue. Take some NSAIDs (Ibuprofen) for a week or so and if that doesn't make it better, go see a doctor so you can get examined and maybe get some imaging done.

I have some clinical training (I will be an MD, after all). But since I knew I wanted to be a pathologist since before the clinical portion of medical school started, I didn't put much effort into learning clinical skills because I was never going to use any of that knowledge in my career anyway. I might have said it as a joke before, but now that I'm past my 3rd year of med school, I seriously will only be able to help you guys if you want me to do your autopsy after you die or if you have a tissue sample you want me to look at under the microscope to check for cancer or some other disease.
