I scored an HV40 on sale from BH for $699. Haven't really had a chance to experiment with it yet though.. Still waiting on the step-up rings for the death lens too.

    Wow... great price....

    I'm interested. I broke my VX2100 a while back.

How good is the condition? Any issues with it ever?

The camera body is a bit scratched up but it works just fine.

The only issue I ever had was a broken viewfinder which I replaced. It has never eaten a tape or anything like that and I've only run Sony Premium tapes through it.

VX's are fucking troopers, they can take a beating like no other camera.

True dat. I knew a dude back in the day who set his VX2000 on his roof, forgot it, drove off, and got up to 45-50mph before it slid off. The body was scratched to hell but it worked fine for years after that.

That's sweet about the HV40 Rick. Can't wait to see some aytch-dee clips!

Yeah, I'm pretty juiced on it. I got to use it for a bit yesterday but I need to get more battery life cause the stock battery doesn't last very long and neither does my backup battery. I need to get like 10 of those suckers, haha.

I'm trying to get a blog together so I can get myself (and keep myself) motivated to make edits like I used to so hopefully this camera will contribute to the motivation, haha.

Yea the stock battery blows. Grab a couple of these:

    and you'll be set.

Hit me up with any HV questions, I've researched pretty much everything for this cam.

Yeah, I'm definitely gonna buy a few of those when I get a chance.
