    Default honda aux inputs?

so i have a 2005 civic hybrid that i wanna install an auxillary input in, and im not too great with cars, and i wondered if anyone on here could recommend a specific port to use? i dont want the ones that make you control the ipod through the stereo, i just want on that lets me control the ipod on its own. it also wouldnt matter to me whether it was a 3.5 mm input or the ipod charger end. im having the installation done at best buy, but their cheapest cord was 135, and im looking for something for a little less. any thoughts on which brand or model to buy?

I have an auxillary input in my car (06 scion tc) the cord itself was only $5 at frys electronics.
The cord is the 3.5mm, it lets you control your music on your ipod not through the sterro, which i prefer, the only thing is you need a seperate cig lighter adapter to charge your ipod, or charge your ipod at home.

$135 seems rather pricey for something simple, unless youre getting a while new stereo face

i think youre thinking of the double ended 3.5 mm cord that just plugs into the aux port. my car doesnt have a port, im talking about a cable the plugs into the back of the radio that connects to my ipod for a car like mine that has no aux port

Won't be as good as a direct AUX port but it is cheap, easy to install, and doesn't change anything from factory.

You are correct sir. I was thinking of the double sided 3.5mm, my bad.

I highly doubt the stock radio has any auxiliary inputs in the back, so if it doesn't have a miniplug (aka 1/8" aka 3.5mm aka miniphone aka like a headphone jack) input on the front, your only decent option that keeps the stock radio is going to be an FM modulator that plugs between the antenna and the antenna hack on the head unit.

Personally I have a cheap Sony aftermarket head unit that has RCA auxiliary inputs on the back. Then I have a RCA-to-miniphone cable that plugs into one of these:

...which has the dock connector that plugs into my iPod. It charges the iPod and also gets the music signal through the one plug. I have the Belkin thing and everything else wired in behind my dash, so there's just the dock-connector wire coming out from under my cupholder. I control the iPod directly, which I highly prefer.

So you could do that, if you buy an aftermarket head unit. Or buy an FM modulator and the Belkin thing, and set it up so it goes iPod, dock connector wire to the Belkin, then a 1/8"-to1/8" cable from the Belkin to the modulator, then the modulator's output plugs into your stock radio's antenna socket.
