Thread: random thought about Remz

    Default random thought about Remz

I just put together in my mind this:
    http://www.google.com/patents?id=6TY...page&q&f=false

+ the fact that new Remz soulplates do not have single holes for the frames, but a wider area:

    and possibly?? also this:
[insert al dolega quote about GC coming out with a flat frame soon, can't find this one]

    ZOMG ITS A CONSPIRACIEZ?!
(I may be dead wrong, just posting to see if anything will come out of this)

im not sure what conspiracy you might be speaking of, but just because they made the UFS mount adjustable does not mean they are getting rid of UFS, more so refining it.

SLs have a fixed mounting position, they're new enough to have had this incorporated if something different was really coming?

i wish Remz liked my feet, i want the Haffey v. 2s so bad

I love kids. They're short, highly emotional people who don't know anything. They rely on their creativity and imagination to get by in the world. A world, I might add, filled with giants. Amazing feat.

Yeah I was hoping for this on the SL boot.....I had high hopes for the Genesys boot too until I saw it. But sadi has a point, why else would they slot the UFS holes on the Remz plates?

And now that CO is winning, maybe Andy is gonna start pulling aces outta his sleeve.

but what would even be done with elongated holes, besides having the ability of placing the frame wherever you want on the bottom of the boot.

i'm going to do this with my Carbon soulplates. my 250ccs already have two 1 inch slots for frame mounting hardware. damn, this thread just solved 2 problems that i''ve been having with my modifications.

    problem solved

Get some RB Switch frame rockers first, and slot the holes just enough to wedge 'em in.

Fuck UFS, I wish adaptable mounting like the google link was made a reality.

im not saying this would NOT matter, but i would not think it would have that much of a difference. but possibly? and also i think UFS should of been 4 bolts instead of 2 from the beginning. having the bolts go in from closer to the side of the frame would allow for a bigger wheel because it would not be centered with the bolt any more.

They're M6 like UFS and the change is 8mm, so you could move your frame forward or back up to 8mm or stretch UFS out to 183mm.

Just read the patent link, it's for a longitudinally (front-to-back) adjustable UFS mount. The idea being that skaters can adjust the centering of the frame to their liking- some people like more of a frame-back alignment (like old K2's), some people like more of a frame-forward alignment (like Fifth Elements or the SL boot).

It's a cool idea but I don't think it'd get utilized much for functional reasons- mostly it would just be kids with large feet moving their inadequately-sized-wheelbase frames all the way forward so that they can see their front wheel (which people have such a huge boner for, I don't get it), which will just mean slipping out a lot when landing with your weight on your heels, when the real problem for them is frame companies not making a larger span of sizes/wheelbases.

Another issue would be that as you change your frame alignment, your groove alignment (how the frame groove lines up with the boot groove) would change, and with rollerblading being so incredibly grind-centric, this would be a big issue. So you really need an adjustable BSP (ala the Legacy) to complement the adjustable frame mount, so you can have both the foot/frame alignment you like as well as the groove-to-groove alignment you like.

What Jake is excited about is this adjustable mount's unintentional byproduct- you could make a frame with a longer mounting pattern, that maxes out the slot's length, and that's better for flat setups- you can get the middle wheels further apart without adding height, although you'd lose the alignment adjustability.

Also, the GC flat frame I saw used the standard 167mm UFS pattern.

Do you know why the Remz soles are slotted Al?

Seems to me to be to accommodate the adjustable-mount system.

Or, it's a plot by rollerblading's reptilian overlords. You decide!
