Default What would you call this grab? Austin Sullivan

This is Austin Sullivan who actually reached the 5th level of the SDSF park, which I didn't even know existed.

See, this park allows you to skate certain obstacles in levels, so you get to the park and have to advance to every new obstacle you want skate. you get the main box first and depending on how you skate that you may advance to different areas of the park. It's really cool and interactive, but Austin reached level 5 and found this sick concrete bowl that I didn't even know existed, and I've been here 6 years.

but the question remains...what the hell grab is this?

Mute is my favorite grab. Back in the day, I was never able to learn 540's until I started doing them mute.

Mute's are tight when done right, but they're also the most over-done grab in blading. It's the one grab all the grinder-bladers grudgingly learn just for the one non-grinding clip in their sections.

I for one am glad to see more grab variety in skating lately. I just shot a photo of my roommate doing a pretty sweet parallel at a ditch spot. I'd love to see some good hippy clinch's popping up.

I like stales too but they're like right behind mute on the played-out list. Stockwell can of course do anything and it looks amazing, though.

    sweet

i love to haul ass at a launch box and do fakie 180 cross grab rockets, fully extended. i have long legs, so i have to pull them back in really quick, but i float them shits. i am also a fan of fakie 180 switch lui kangs, and i'll admit to doing zero spin fly fishes when fucking around on small stuff.

i used to do a combination of parallel/that grab (imagine parallel with your left hand but grabbing just the front wheel of the left skate) back in the late 90s, mostly as spine transfers. but they probably weren't called that. i called them gut wrench grabs because i felt like i was gonna throw up from the pressure on my abdomen.

I love kids. They're short, highly emotional people who don't know anything. They rely on their creativity and imagination to get by in the world. A world, I might add, filled with giants. Amazing feat.

Sounds pretty much like a Hippy Clinch... technically I think you're supposed to be grabbing the frame/groove like on a That Grab, but that shit's hard, haha.

i thought that grabs were just the wheel, no frame? i googled hippie clinch, it looks like the frame is grabbed, i think.

Please explain this in further detail. How do you not know a bowl exists after skating a park for 6 years?

haha was going to say this, didnt know why this needed questioning.

it was only until extremely recently that i understood what a hippie clinch was, i always thought it was another term for parallel. will learn 540 hippie clinch at the park next time.
