Default Decoded generic batteries for 5D2 & 7D

Just got an email about this, figured I'd pass it along... I bought two batteries for my HV30 from this guy and he is super legit and the batteries have been great.

All other generic LP-E6's don't have the "info chip" in them, so the camera will not display the battery level, and you cannot charge them on the stock Canon charger. These are decoded (aka have the info chip), so they will do both, and are cheaper than "real" LP-E6's.

Al, have you tried these batteries on a 7D or 5D2 yet?

I have some generics but, yes, it is a pain in the ass not knowing my battery level.

Nope, sorry, I don't have my 7D yet, probably not for almost a month.

Very interesting. How long have you been using it for? As long as it doesn't mess up the camera in the long run, these are totally worth it.

It'd be nice to always have some charged batteries on standby.

just got mine saturday . shipping was real fast. battery works as described. shows 100% charge in the camera. goes in and out of battery grip smoothly (i guess some people had problems with other brand generic lp-e6 batteries going in rough and getting stuck in the grip in some cases)

so heres the review. ive had the battery for a week now and i figured id throw it in with a canon battery in the batery grip on my 7d on satuday while i was shooting a wedding just to see how it works out over and extended amount of time and lots of frames thru it (i have 2 lp-e6 btw). well its a battery....... it made the camera work, so thats a plus. that plus comes with some weird quirks. i checked my battery after we left the brides house and my camera told me that i only had 1 battery in the grip when clearly there were 2 there; solution take the battery out and pop it back in..... not to bad. i checked for that again later in the day a few times and it always showed up, so maybe it was just a fluke, who knows? heres the thing thats a bigger negative, but ultimatly not a deal breaker. it almost seems as if the battery forces the camera to use it. what i mean by that is that somehow it forcing almost double the frames thru the off brand battery than the canon battery when they both started at a 100% charge. now this might not be an issue if you were only shooting the one battery or possibly even 2 off brand batteries, but this one seems to drain faster than the canons (my canon batteries seem to almost go shot for shot so they both drain at the same pace)
    conclusion:
I'm curious to see what the longevity of the battery is.
Ultimatly not a bad deal, its half the price of the canon battery and does what it supposed to. It does have it quirks, but its also a nice piece of mind to know that if both canon batteries die and all 20ish of my rechargable AA's die that its at least a fail safe and i can still get the job done.
